Apart from the obvious... Bust my arm at Dirt Farm last week, looks like I'll have a little op then about 6 weeks in a cast... I've bust my wrist before but always had some use of the arm/hand, not so much this time so, finstance, I thought "I'll play a big time eating strategy game on the pc" but everything I fired up benefits from key shortcuts.

I can drive- automatic car- so travelling about is an option.

So... walking, yes. I plan to do some local touristing stuff that I'd not normally do like parks, gardens. I'm not well disposed to hillwalking, it's too much like biking with all the fun bits removed.

WWSTDWOA?

Been in a similar situation, but had limited use of my arm after a week or so.

Just went hillwalking, nowhere near as much fun as cycling and takes an age, but still good to get out and about.

Don't let someone well-meaning buy you a fresh, unsliced loaf because you need bread. They won't understand why you chewed the loaf rather than sliced it. Ask me how I know this 😉

Turbo in the garden with fans under a parasol while being soaked by a water sprinkler, while the weather is good.

I’ve been PS4 gaming the last 4 weeks.

That and, metaphorically obvs, climbing the walls.

Always the innocuous looking ones, looking at the video looks like your leg have taken the brunt getting caught up in the frame

With one hand?

Both hands work, but the left arm does all the lifting/positioning of the controller while the right arm is in a sling.

Broke my arm (stupidly) many years back and had it in a shoulder to wrist cast for 16 weeks.

I went mad.

Luckily it was my left arm, so I could still write and do things like brushing my teeth, but it left me seriously un-ambidextrous and even 30 years later I can't seem to get the same muscle mass on my left arm.

If you have both hands working, maybe a PS5 would be good. Or lots or walking.

As someone who spent last July/August with his arm in a cast, I was explicitly told not to drive, even an automatic. I did complete Red Dead Redemption 2 though.

To assess your ability to drive
To assess lower leg strength, endurance, range of motion and balance:
If it takes you more than 9 seconds to walk 3 metres, or 10 feet, turn around and walk back to the start, your legs may be too weak for you to drive safely.

To assess ability to control and manoeuvre your vehicle:
Neck rotation: Can you look over either shoulder to be able to reverse?
Finger curl: Can you make fists with both hands strong enough to allow you to hold a steering wheel safely?
Shoulder and elbow flexion: Pretend you are holding a steering wheel. Can you turn the imaginary wheel all the way to the right and then all the way to the left?
Ankle flexion: Pretend you are pressing a car accelerator or brake pedal quickly and hard. Now bring your toes back towards you. If your movement is hesitant, causes pain or is limited, your ability to drive safely will be affected. If you can perform these movements easily, check your strength with the below-mentioned process.
To assess your strength, ask someone to provide light resistance against these movements:
Lift each arm in turn in the air, as if you are putting your hand up at school. Then bring each arm slowly back to your side.
Move each hand up and down to test your wrists. Move each foot up and down to test your ankles. Clench your hands.
Each movement can be scored using this scale:
0 = No movement
1 = Muscle contracts but no movement 2 = Movement but not against gravity
3 = Movement against gravity
4 = Movement against light resistance 5 = Movement against strong resistance

My mate was born with nothing below her right elbow.

So, live a totally normal life! She has a box on her car's steering wheel that lets her do the indicators, wipers and so on.

Other than that her life is totally normal

Game-wise, you into Kerbal Space Program? Playable one-handed for sure, especially given most of it is setup.

Launches might get exciting. And frustrating.

I'm in a similar position having just had a rotator cuff reattached. I can use my hand but not move my shoulder. I'm becoming an expert on various shit I've watched on YT. And really, really keen to get out of the sling. And walking. Lots of walking. The sweaty arm/sling is not great though. I'm hoping to get the ok to start turboing again soon.

I think now is the time for a critique of your drop technique, with suggestions from forum members as to where you went wrong and how you could improve in the future. A skills clinic if you will, you know to help make you feel better and all that!

Where I went wrong was, it wasn't supposed to be a drop 🙂 You see the big root just "behind" the wheel? I wanted to be on or to the right of that.

Try Irish Dancing.

The concept of Irish dancing came about from the mass hangings in 19th century Ireland.

I ****in made it big time now! Has anyone ever hit this big before?

So, they decided to surgerise it and ended up putting a plate in, so I'm out of the cast though I still have a rubber hand.

Yeah was day 4 of 5 days uplifting in wales. Was absolutely brilliant up til then!

In the ward, it was always a battle to get anything better than paracetemol and ibuprofen. When they were discharging me I mentioned that I could do with something a bit more especially as I'm to keep it moving, expecting cocodamol or just possibly tramadol. And they just basically tossed me a bottle of morphine and said "dont drink it all at once or you'll die". Quite random
