Taking the 9 & 7 year old to the swimming pool on Saturday. I’m looking for fun things to do in the afternoon with them please.

Thanks in advance

Depends how far you want to travel, but cannon hall as mentioned or the Yorkshire sculpture park if you fancy a stroll. Wentworth castle and worsbrough mill also nice.

The swimming pool is amazing in its own right! Assuming you're going to the Metrodome, every time I've been I've not had the energy to do anything afterwards and have stayed for hours.

Yeah off to the Metrodome and it’s brilliant!

Thanks all some great options.

The museum at Experience Barnsley is small but very nicely done, and the cafe across the road in the Cooper art gallery is decent. I think Cannon Hall is the best shout.

The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is pretty good day out for any age. A few miles from Barnsley but well worth a visit or 3 if you haven't been.

On my first trip to Barnsley, I went for a piss in a pub and some dirty bugger had laid a cable in the urinal.

Sorry, no help to the OP but the thread title triggered a memory...

I've just been there for breakfast, can recommend. Can also recommend the Blue Cheese & Red Onion Marmalade pork pies in the adjacent farm shop.

Metrodome is brill - just this side of dangerous, less so now they closed the 5m platform 😢

Wentworth Castle, if you have NT.

Thanks all. I asked the two girls and they picked the football! Unbelievable and a winner, all are happy. Thanks again.
