Things to do in Majorca that don’t involve cycling

Had a week of cycling booked in pollenca in a weeks time. After a season of injury I was really looking forward to it, but I’ve now managed to pick up yet another injury and won’t be able to cycle. It’ll be like going to Disney land and not being able to go on any of the rides

other than sitting at the poolside and getting smashed all day is there anything worth doing? It’ll still be better than the misery that is pouring rain in Scotland, but I’m a bit gutted.

a week in Mallorca will be a tonic in itself, especially this time of the year 🙂

things to do, places to go: Soller on the train from Palma for a lovely day out, take the bus through the mountains and visit the monastery at Lluc, head over to Artà, it's a bit quieter over that side of the island, and Palma itself is a grear city, especially hanging out in the evenings.

just chill, it's a fantastic place, I love it.

I know you said “other than getting smashed…” but surely, drink Heineken?

Depends what injury. Great rock climbing and loads of walking. Possible guidebook link. Probably loads of coastal and coffee shop walks too.

Go swimming in the sea (doesn't need to be far).

Bound to be boat trips or fishing trips.

Eat Spanish food and enjoy some autumn warmth. Take a few books to read and try and mindset shift to just chill. It's a beautiful place.

Sounds like a great holiday, just not a bike one.

What's the injury ?

I just had a week in soller -hired a bike which was silly , did not use it once.

I was staying right on gr221 and it rained on day 1 so I went for an explore run and came across such awesome trails I ended up  running out in all directions up to 25km minimum  300m vertical .  Nearly ran over to the orange juice shack at the viaduct but realized I had left my wallet on the bed at the house and wasn't willing to bet on them taking phone payments with 30k to run back after no food 🙂

I m on the mainland, still summer temps, flat sea, quiet beaches.  I d go kayaking if poss, we went yesterday, swim, beach, kayak, cafe stops, best day ever for me.

Once stayed in pollenca, lovely spot.  Took public transport round the island.

Basically I’ve lost any useful use of left arm due to trapped nerve in back so sporting activities out. I can drink with the right arm however.

as said above, it’s still a holiday, and it’s still not in Scotland where it is currently pissing down

Although to rub it in all the goodies I’ve purchased for my cycling have started to arrive, new club top, fresh gleaming tan wall tyres, even some ceramic gold jockey wheels to make up for all the lost watts of not being able to cycle properly for past 4 months..

thanks for all the suggestions folks..

If you have a rental car, it’s a wonderful area to drive around. Lluc monastery was wonderful. Driving round Formentera? was incredibly beautiful. My favourite was swimming with goggles in Cala St Vincente. It was like swimming in an acquarium. You don’t even have to swim - just float on the surface and look down.

Incorporate the Sant Salvador monastery into a trip over to the eastern side of the island.

The walking is going to be great at this time of the year. Lots of nice stuff around Fornalutx so you could do something circular there or go down to Puerto Soller and get a bus / taxi back. There will be similar great options near Pollenca as well but I don’t know them.

Get some really cheap accommodation in Palma and have a night out there. Old town / cathedral / Llotja / Santa Catalina areas.

Caves - Drac/Arta - there are others. You'll be able to get the bus.

Bus to Soller, train down the hill to the port. It's nice for a mooch and a walk.

Some of the town and monasteries you'd cycle to are nice to visit.

Swim (I normally stay a stone's throw from the beach and never actually swim on biking holidays!).

There's loads of walking. Komoot is good for routes. I'm going in a few weeks with the in laws so have some planned!

Alcudia Peninsula walk (Alcpen)

11miles 1000m climbing (need to figure out start point)

Some shorter options from Soller

Is a spectacular ascent when you think of how it was formed and the view from the top.

Going with the club tomorrow for a week. Looks like 25c and sunny. I was wondering what to do when not cycling )which is only about 3-4 hours per day. I’ll be reading and swimming in the sea. Thanks for the walking suggestions. Good ideas there.

BTW what injury? There are plenty of flat rides in the region too. Nothing wrong with a decent warm pootle and dip in the med.
