I'm going to be down there quite regularly it seems from now on. In the area of St James's Park tube.

What can I do to keep occupied that isn't a) just hiding in my hotel room and b) just sitting in a pub?

How well do you know London? And, how regularily? It's a great place for just wandering at night and learning. And quite a lot of late opening stuff. Tuesday's probably the worst night mind but London doesn't really take a night off. If all else fails I'll just find a late opening night at a museum or wander around covent garden/leicester square or similar.

Boris Bike sightseeing
As above, late night museum or gallery
Join a gym, there was a pretty active squash league at mine, only a couple of stops south
Or, just go to Cask with a good book

There's a curzon cinema in Victoria - shows some of the less "mainstream" movies.

There's an app called Yplan which lists things to do in London today/night.

Wandering around is great. South bank is nice if an evening. There's a few evening markets too. If it's fairly regular you could get involved in an activity. 5-a-side football, basketball, tennis, bike polo, there's is absolutely loads if that sort of thing happening every night.

Meetup has a wide variety of groups in London. It works well for big cities as there are lots of people looking to do cultural things like visits to the British Museum. Most of the cultural events take place on the weekends but there are a few which meet up during the week.

Do you climb? Quite a few places are easy to get to. Boulder or they usually have a way to match people up.

There's several Puregyms about that are cheap to do single sessions at. Some specialist spinning/wattbike studios about too.

If you like slightly geeky card games, there's Netrunner every Tuesday night in a pub on the southbank http://www.meetup.com/London-Netrunners/

Really though, you can find almost any interest well catered for, most nights of the week.

There is a bouldering wall not to far at Vauxhall in the arches by the station.

You can pop into Chariots sauna afterwards for a bit of a relax. Very welcoming.

There really is loads to do. Pick a thing, any thing and someone in London will be doing it. Its a real waste to sit in a hotel room. I try to time my rare business trips to coincide with something interesting although it can make for a long day.

If you're into running, Hercules Wimbledon track training session is every Tuesday 7-8pm. Great if you don't intend being able to walk afterwards 😀

Not based exactly at St James' Park though

Cheers, Rich

I'm usually there at least Monday and Tuesday nights. I've done plenty of being in the office until 10pm and the worst of what I'm doing is over, so have more time.

Monday night is yoga night. This Tues I went to Wembley for the England v France game. I met my father the week before for dinner.

I'll probably take myself off to the theatre soon and track down some late opening museums.

And now it's Christmas shopping season if you fancy dealing with the hordes on Regent St in the evening....
