Im really cross.

My riding buddy got married last week and we had the reception on saturday
Following the reception the grooms cousin, left his somewhat valuable drum kit in the marquee, the hired decks/mixer etc and the laptop.

When the bride and groom returned at 0700 to begin the clear up, they wondered where the decks had been put, so text the drummer to see if they were in his van.... the drummer phoned back, confused and checking the drum kit was still there. The slow dawning of what had happened...

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Just venting. Well, and hoping for some sympathy for my mate
If you have a little spare change
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/drums-for-tim

The kit, while difficult and expensive to replace, is just kit. The fact that some lowlife short on thinking **** has dared to put a big black smudge on my mates big day.... really grinds my gears.

Surprises me just how many thieves are out there. Leave anything of value unattended for a while and high chance it will get nicked.

I sometimes think some are not particularly dedicated thieves but just general public with low morals who aren't adverse to grabbing the opportunity. Kind of like people who don't give a crap about chucking rubbish on the street or fly tipping.

Police are asking for information on the whereabouts of the Purple Gang, who have previous for this sort of thing.

They also would like to question Spider Murphy in relation to the alleged theft of a tenor saxophone.

while you will never know, i generally suspect opportunists
There was a pretty little hand made 'Wedding' sign on the main road all day, probably all night too, and the village hall is in the middle of nowhere. Police understandably didnt even attend as there is no cctv.

anyone fancy a side bet on how the house insurance react? Im going with refusing to pay out and the hiking the premium anyway.

🙁

That's crap, but leaving all that equipment in a Marquee probably wasn't the best idea.

No donation from me, live and learn....

Could it have been one of the guests?

This is pretty rough and as a drummer I'd be gutted..... but having said that I'd not leave this sort of kit at a cricket club in an outside marquee overnight. Thieves must have made a racket moving it. Can't imagine it will go anywhere but eBay either?

unlikely a guest - probably the worst bit of being robbed is the suspicion and paranoia it leaves you with, but really no limit to how many people knew the village hall and marquee were going to be there

have to say i was surprised that the plan was to leave stuff in an unattended marquee overnight - If known a couple of us could easily stayed guard, hindsight eh.

i don't understand your comment about the house insurance? If you think there's a chance the stuff is covered is it not proper to check that first before taking money off people?

Drummers and DJs do this all the time. Pain inthe ass that others have to deal with. Have you tried wedding people/village hall key holder? They might be making you sweat a bit!

Police understandably didn't attend?? 100s of £s worth of gear nicked and they don't even come and check out the place? Lazy bastards. They probably know the thieves as well.

Sounds like they knew when to come in. So you can probably rule out the bassist as a suspect.

nothing to do with the village hall key holder, they turned up today and it seems there is a lot of their furniture missing too. Must have been a big van. My gut says opportunists spotted the wedding signs during the day and waited till it was all clear.

they also opened the boot of my car and stole my priceless collection of "bag for life" bags, about 20 of them, been collecting them for ages, some are pretty special. Now im gonna have to pay 5p a time.

hope they didnt use my bags to carry off the swag.

cheers for the lols

No donation from me either. Some scrote broke into my shed years ago & nicked a nice powerful strimmer/brush cutter. If anyone wants to donate to that, let me know.

Sorry to hear about the bad news, but there's no way that set of drums is worth £4k!

They were way less than that new (I seem to think around £800) and can be had for pennies nowadays.

Hope he gets it sorted, and the thieves catch incurable knob rot.

Hi Dickyboy - we may well know each other.

essel - snap, when my hire car got broken into and emptied nobody helped me, picked my arse up and got on with it, thanks for the bump tho.
jakester - think the drum kit is valued around £2k (including lights) the rest of the sound equipment was hired and is valued around £4k..... then there is the son's laptop... no word on the furniture.

Tiny world - once bumped into someone from Wycombe whilst working in Vienna.

whilst its awful you had equipment stolen-which isn't any of our faults, you tantamount to begging to pay for someone else's stupidity !

When did out become accepted that the first thing to do on an event happening is to stick up a just giving page?

Just to stick up for Mr Geezer, I do concur that it seems a bit odd to have a justgiving page to cover someone's nicked drum kit.

I am sure it will be said no-one has to just give, but personally I wouldn't have even thought of posting it on a internet forum. Not saying it's right/wrong, just would never occur to me.

Funny you should say that as I work in the charity sector and have done for 15 years

Just don't like outward begging
