1000s of children die daily from parasitic water?
Why can't they just boil it?
Just wondering, they cook, so why not boil the water first?
I don't know the answer. My gut reaction is that in some areas there is very little in the way of thing to form a fire in the first place, and all the combustible material is used for cooking. Or it might be that the problem might be as basic as one of education. Or it might be that the parasites in question don't enter through an oral route. Just conjecture, so not much use though.
Fuel poverty - there isn't a lot of wood in the drier parts of Africa. Places like Nepal have devastated their hill sides harvesting wood to cook food for tourists and now suffer from landslides as they've lost the vegetation that held their soil to the hillside.....
Do they burn cowpats as they do in parts of India where there is little wood ?
Good points well made.
Hadnt thought about lack of fuel
I donate each month to Water Aid, poor sods having to struggle every day getting clean water.
Wouldn't mind going there to help, just a shame there are so many crazy bleeders lurking about, they even kill people who have gone to vaccinate
Kill people?
Kill people?

Been similar problems in ****stan too.
Aside from the points above about fuel above, don't forget the bit in the advert about how far they have to walk just to get the unsafe water. Aside from clean water the other goal is to provide more local supply.
