Just wondering what other reason there could be behind the Windrush issue currently unfolding. People being wrong deported? WTF has happened to this country?

Based on my experience of getting a visa for my wife based on the rules she introduced as home secretary 3 months before our wedding, she definitely absolutely hates foreigners, and is probably a massive racist.

A cruel and vindictive woman with absolutely no idea what she's doing.

WTF has happened to this country?

Long or short answer?

Simplistic version after decades of bad policy from Tory and Labour governments which has lead to greater inequality between all groups in society racist elements are able to use this to further their aims.

In this case it's possible to chalk it up to gross incompetence at the home office, probably an inability to work out how to stop the wrong people getting on the list etc.

A cruel and vindictive woman with absolutely no idea what she’s doing.

Makes you wonder who's more evil: May because she's vindictive yet clueless, or Thatcher because she knew damn well what she was doing and revelled in it.

Thatcher.

She hated you if  the colour was permanent or if it washed off at the end of your shift.

Isn't the point of the Tory's that they just hate everyone who isn't one of their own? But with specific reference to our beloved leader.... you seriously need to ask if she's racist when she was the Home Secretary who thought this was a great idea....

Image result for van telling people to go home

I think the root cause of this shambles is down to rank incompetence, but its also now involved cold, aloof and callous Government politicians who basically couldn't give a shit about anyone really, and certainly not if you're the wrong colour

At a guess I would partly say sensationalist  headlines, a policy developed by civil servants and lawyers that missed out one group of effected people, and a PM that has had other thing on her plate at the minute.

why the **** does that make anyone a racist ?

What he said ^^

No one said "only black immigrants would be deported".  Someone has reported "illegal immigrants from the Caribbean might be deported".  There is a difference.

However, its a bit unfair isn't it?  We offered an opportunity for people to come and work & live in "a better" place assisting us with the post WW2 effort, only now they are pensioners to want to kick them out over some faulty paperwork which no doubt they either weren't party to or didn't understand.

On the flip side, my grandmother in law and MIL would love to be exported to Barbados for free as this place rapidly turns to shit, I'd likely go with them TBH.

Because she's refused to speak to Caribbean diplomats about it (before u-turning when she realised it made her look racist), is ignoring the issue and generally dealing with it with contempt, following 8 years in office during which she's introduced other policies that are designed to prevent foreigners with legitimate claims remaining in or entering the UK, polices that have, in the case of the spouse visa laws, broken the European Convention on Human Rights.

It's a catalogue of things over many years that mark her out as a racist, not this single event.

Everything's gone far too tribal in this country, everyone wants to blame everything on everybody else rather than taking personal responsibility.

She is racist, cos we all are a little bit. She's also been self serving but all she was trying to do was appeal to her core voters (who I disagree with, but it was doing her job). She's useful as a target for our lefty hate, but what are we going to do about it?

Personally I'm just going to do what I can to avoid contributing to the bullshit. But that's not very much to be honest.

Vote for the other parties.

Honestly it sits perfectly well with her general level of incompetence, given she had ample time to sort this out in her previous role.

She was too busy 'losing' the parliamentary paedophile  documents.

Yep and her enthusiasm for jumping on the immigrants are the problem side rather than explaining that they are more of a solution

I thought we were all about the Commonwealth now.

I'm not sure if she is racist as she can't wait to give passports to billionaires of any colour.

She IS, however an evil ****ing bitch whose death will be cause for celebration. As will that of most of H.Ms government.

The fact that people have been "wrongfully deported" already (not just might be deported) and the policy was put into place when TM was Home Secretary, I don't think you can say that this is happening because she has other things on her mind at the moment. Seems like a scandalous situation to me which probably makes me a snowflake.

Pfft, she's got UKIP on the ropes and this is the knock-out punch I guess. Of her many faults, tearing the arse out the country and ruining peoples lives to help her claw onto power is definitely one.

Truthfully I know more hard-core socialists who are anti-immigration than capitalists. There's so, so many more way to think than left or right.

She knows exactly what she's doing (or was doing as home secretary) which is pursuing a racist agenda to make it as difficult as possible for people of colour to live in the UK.

"Makes you wonder who’s more evil: May because she’s vindictive yet clueless"

She's incompetent in many things but don't let her off the hook so easily, in the Home Office failure-by-design was her favourite tactic- you can get away with things via a policy that's doomed to fail, that you'd never get away with if you declared at the outcome that you were going to do.

I don't know if she's actually racist, or if she just chooses to act that way in order to court votes. I'm not sure which is worse either. She is a bottom end human being, either way

My mother, apparently. I had a bit of a go at her about that, and my wife was upset by it as until the last two elections she'd voted Labour since 1997. It was only after we'd spent months with my wife crying in the evenings about the new rules that she decided to vote Tory.

Footflaps - it's not just people of colour, although I think they're fairly obviously the target. My wife is white, and so racists tend to have a rant at us about how there has to be some form of control to stop all the bastards getting in, then tell us that my wife is "different" (because she's white, not that they ever come out and actually admit that's what they're thinking). They ask how we endured five years and several thousands of pounds of visa struggles, where I had to change jobs to meet the criteria, yet "all these brown people just come over as they please". When I point out they've done exactly what we've done they refuse to believe me.

Yep be Aussie, Canadian, American or western European and you are fine, further out defiantly dodgy. It's all about what people feel comfortable with so in the end a mix of racism, xenophobia, hatred and a fear of the unknown.

How will the Home Office deal with the Europeans who are here now, post Brexit? Those people who have been promised residency must be a bit worried.

Terribly. I mean, they simply don't have the resources to do the job properly, and won't be given them, so terrible is the starting point.

Its pretty shocking really. It must be terrible for the people concerned and also those already deported. Amber Rudd and Caroline Nokes seem to be backpedalling massively about it. Also Im not seeing any clear statement on how many people have actually been unfairly deported over this which seems to suggest they havent got a clue as to what has been going on and are now hurridly getting the sound bites out there to cover their arses.

If she were actually rascist then, given the immigration targets when she was in the home office, she could have easily clamped down on immigration from all the non-EU countries in order to get closer to the targets. She would also probably have been a brexiter rather than a remainer.

Promises mean nothing, The EU wants its citizens in the UK to be protected in law, and ECJ jurisdiction, and having seen this performance, the EU will no doubt continue to stick to its guns.

Is it any wonder that May wanted out of the ECHR?

Racist or not she has one of the worst records for utterly messing things up and blaming everybody else.

The case of Paulette Wilson  completely exposes the nasty policies and implementation that have been a signature of this government .

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/jan/11/paulette-wilson-threatened-with-deportation-after-50-years-in-uk-leave-to-remain

There is no excuse , and trying to ignore and soundbite just makes it worse.

Well the Brexit vote was based upon the ideological viewpoint of racism, and promoted by the Tories. We then had a general election where the Tories had to bribe the DUP so they could stay in power, so supporting terrorism .. and yet faced with those two blatantly obvious points they were still voted in.

Well done to all those who voted Tory. Glad you stood up and supported racism.

What a load of tosh.  The Tory government did not promote Brexit.

Some 40% of Tory voters also voted to remain so to concluding that voting Tory = Racist is not only insulting but clearly wrong.

They did.

You clearly can’t remember.

David lammy sums it up

"Let us call it as it is; if you lay down with dogs, you get fleas, and that is what has happened with this far-right rhetoric in this country."

I’ve just watched David Lammy on the news. Blimey! He let her have both barrels, didn’t he?

And, of course, he has every right to be that angry.

It’s absolutely shameful what some people are being put through. But unfortunately it’s pretty indicative of what a nasty, shabby little country we’re becoming as this government gets dragged off (willingly, it seems) to the right by some people with truly unpleasant, hate-filled racist agenda’s post-Brexit vote

Our true colours as a nation are laid bare and for many of us it's very uncomfortable, there are not enough free thinking, open human beings left to force change.

I have said this before on here that it will take maybe 50 years to "breed out" these ****s - not in my lifetime but my four kids and many others will eventually make this history.

oldmanmtb, I wish I could share your optimism, but the racists are there and always have been.

Some articles I have been reading re An gorta Mór and how Irish refugees were treated by the English, at a time when Ireland was as much a part of the UK as London yet the English press were complaining and calling for a clamp down.

Over 150years later and not much has really changed,

Problem is that education is not only the best antidote to racism but also a highly effective contraceptive, so unlikely to be able to out breed them....

I’m not her greatest fan 🙂

Sorry is this the same racist Theresa May who:

- as Home Secretary took considerable political flack for substantially curtailing stop and search - which disproportionately impacts young black people?

- as Prime Minister conceived a major review into barriers faced by minority groups?

it would seem these days people are very quick to shout “racist” and these slurs almost always come from those on the left who a preach the  “new gentler politics”. As an aside it’s almosy always  David Lammy calling people racist - apart from when he says a judge can’t be any good because they are white and then we’re told it’s not racism it’s skmething else.

While the BBC are reporting on the royal wedding, and certain political shows are talking about John Bercow bullying people, the Government have imposed a three line whip on its Mp's over Labour's windrush motion.

Of course she is racist.   Not in the overt way of the klu klux klan but in a nasty insidious reckless way.  when told policies are disproprtionatly adversely affecting ethnic minorities she doesn't care

But then the whole tory party virtually is racist in this way and many of our institutions.
