As the title, WFH today, usually I'm very productive, today not so much, actually not at all, no meetings to while away the afternoon, can't settle to anything and no one to talk to. Tomorrow is going to be worse.

I've even just volunteered to go pick the MIL up from the station, 2 hour round trip in foul weather.

Anyone else struggling to get to the finish line tomorrow?

I went out cycling, then came back and stripped all the pivots on the Trek, cleaned, greased, put back together and torqued.. the world is all good 🙂

I’m in the office on my own. Not getting much done; except for an extended lunch break to watch the ferry try and dock in howling westerlies. Took about 25 minutes of full bow thrusting to turn against the wind.

I have a very important customer meeting this afternoon, followed by an 8am Sales Ra! Ra! call from the boss.  After that….

Won't help, but I finished yesterday (teacher).

So far today. Car in for MOT (somehow passed - woohoo!). Bit of shopping so I can test out a couple of elements of Christmas Dinner. Some time in the kitchen doing just that with some welcome (and tasty) success.

About to walk the dog and go to buy a couple more ingredients from a local butcher. Then need to pick up my car and Mrs Noise from work.

Feeling quite productive for a day off!

I have the same problem. All the stuff that needed to be done before Christmas is done and I can’t be bothered to create work. Got to get through tomorrow as well yet. Even YouTube is getting dull

I've been struggling to keep my eyes open at work since December 1st. Supposed to finish tomorrow but I'm off early with a 2 year old with a throat infection. I'd rather be in the office watching YouTube.

Off since last Tuesday on paternity leave, not looking forward to returning mid Jan to the remains of my inbox.
Christmas is passing us by with a week old boss keeping the house running

Last day today until 4th January, working from home with a hangover, just about to switch to doing some admin tasks for the remainder of the afternoon I think.

I've swapped a brake hose, then played with brio and been a bike ride round the streets with my near 3 year old. He's well ready for pedals. Now we're singing to songs and having a snack before picking his brother from school.

On the work front, I did check in with one of my team who is having a tough time (or trying to pull the wool over my eyes).

Got 9 coming for xmas day, after a heating pipe burst in concrete floor and my wife deciding it would be a good chance to remodel house and knock lounge and kitchen together, finished fitting kitchen and tiling last week, now desperately fitting a floor for the table to go on!

Yup, zero motivation.
Kinda hard to feel enthused when most folks are finishing/finished for a long break and I've got a load of work to do during said break!
So despite having massive amounts to actually do, I'm currently on STW and have tinkered with my bike a bit. Might do some work shortly.

Finished Tuesday.

Today I’ve walked the dog. Been on a short road ride with  3 x 30 second intervals. Returned my Hammerhead Karoo days before the warranty ran out. Then the big one. Started clearing the crap out the living room so 13 can eat in there.

Finished Tuesday, final task was to fill out a 45 page survey for management documenting skills, training and experience. Initially just couldn't see the point, none of it really relevant to the day-to-day struggles we have in office and I can't see any of us having the time to actually address any of the skills shortfall (and given that in our particular job you sometimes only employ a given skill once a year, or less, the likelihood of retaining any training is slim).

In the end though I did a really thorough job, just as a sort of gauntlet throw-down to management, see if they actually read it and action any of it (or just fire me due to the glaring gaps in my 'training' 😬)

Was struggling a bit, but been smashing the jobs out today.

I think as more people knock off for the break, there's less distraction.

Knocked it on the head at 3pm, spent the morning drafting a to do list for the first week back as everybody I needed to speak to had already finished!

I've got a few jobs need doing around the place over the break, but even as I'm sat here unwinding I can feel a cold/flu creeping back over me, thought I'd shifted it😞

fill out a 45 page survey

I suspect there are more serious issues at your company if those words have been used. I struggled with a four page multiple choice surveymonkey thing today!

Finished now short of updating the diary for next week.

Yesterday was last official full days work of the year... Today I got to witness sales awards and then hit the bar at 1130 on works tab. Managed two pints before making excuses and leaving them to it lol.

Set aside the day to write a proposal to take to a customer. Quite a complex, niche area.

Copilot in Word did a much better job that I ever could in two prompts.

"Write me a proposal for a blank-blank-blankety blank that includes all the blank blanks from the ExistingPublicProject"

Done in under ten minutes, shared internally, shared with the consultancy we're working with.

Watched three episodes of Andor.

All the normal work channels are quiet, my boss is on a plane to Canaria and I only have a meeting at 1300 today, so I think it is time to start slowly packing things for the short trip to the in-laws.

I have fully switched off this week, coasting and doing the bare minimum. Had to complete 5 projects at the start of this month which was a herculean effort and since then have been browsing STW and checking job ads for a prospective new start in the new year.

My boss is an absolute asshat though and is keeping everyone here until 6pm tonight even though all our sales teams and freelancers are finishing at 2.

That is weapons grade nobbery, we're officially finishing at 3pm (normally 5pm). I've managed to get this far this morning, had a meeting at 11 I was relying on to get me through but it got cancelled. I've even finished all my online training.

I'm sat here taking 'script request for folks that just happen to be worried that they won't have enough medicine for the holiday break...Funny that it always appears to be stuff like Viagra, the benzos, pregabalin all the Z-drugs all that sort of shit...Here's a thought, try not to take them recreationally, or maybe stop selling them to your mates...Maybe you'll have enough to last?

Well that finished me off earlier, one of my supervisors rang, had a biopsy earlier in the week, called in today for results. Bad as we feared, mesothelioma, 18 months at best.

Happy Christmas all, I'm off to hug the family (which will no doubt freak them all out).
