Wasn't war declared some time ago?
They've technically not been at peace since the 1940s...
There's been far more fighting talk and threats these past few months than there have been for quite some time- is Kim just playing a game to make himself noticed or is he really planning something?
Lets just hope the yanks don't shoot first.
Guess zippykona you want to wait until you see Bristol or Birmingham glow first?
It's all to do with KJU consolidating his powerbase in the CP-DPRK. After all the blustering subsides things should all calm down (we hope) back to the 'normal' standoff.

Lets just hope the yanks don't shoot first.
This is an important point. China and Russia are watching and they all know KN is a bit cuckoo. Bit if the yanks get all fighty first, I really would start getting nervous.
TBH he's trying to provoke them anyway.
I think more likely the Chinese do something. They seem to be getting fed up with them now. They could just roll in with little notice/prep (you can bet they have a plan tucked away somewhere), so probably have less bloodshed as less warning. I think things would have to get a lot more crazy first.
all bluster for the domestic audience at present with an eye on us.
He is a dictator of a small country and any war ends worse for him [ death i guess or prison for ever] than the current situation and he is not daft enough to not know this or want it.
He simply needs to act bat shit mental crazy so he is perceived to be so unpredictable no one even considers an invasion as he will go nuclear/crazy
He seems to be a natural at playing this role but he wont actually start anything - it remains to be seen how much he want to poke the big angry bear with his stick though - ie small skirmishes
You think he'd ^^ have a smartphone....
He's got a microphone for saying "Kill Them" into though, so credit where credit's due...
What you can't see is that the list in front of him is actually a list of pizza places:
"harrow? Yes, Pizshaas weee wannnt preeees, weee hovrcrft send now".........
He lives in Harrow? 😯
Yes he lives in Harrow where else would he get a crochet mat for his push button state of the art telephone?
You think he'd ^^ have a smartphone....
Not likely, South Korea makes most of those don't they 😆
Loving the doily under the telephone.
whats the betting that's not actually plugged into anything, and neither is that telly
No, look at the smirking general behind him, it's some kind of prank call.
"Harrow, is dat da White House? Yes? Is there a Mr Wall there pwease?"
Loving the doily under the telephone.whats the betting that's not actually plugged into anything, and neither is that telly
I don't think he is actually plugged into anything.
It worries me that the Americans may respond if provoked dragging us into a conflict "again" that we can't easily extricate ourselves from. Plus with China and Russia sitting in the wings what could ultimately be the outcome.
I think he has more to worry about with China than the US
Not sure Russia gives much of a **** tbh
Edit: maybe they do

Bloody hell, so he has, classy! I'm surprised he hasn't got one of those white anti-Macassar things over the back of his chair, just to complete the image... 😆
He is a dictator of a small country and any war ends worse for him [ death i guess or prison for ever] than the current situation and he is not daft enough to not know this or want it.
[worry mode]I'm not so sure. I hope you are right but remember that most North Koreans have no knowledge at all about the outside world and belive whatever they are told by the leadership. If Kim was brought up like that he may well think NK is invincible. I'm hoping the more senior peeps in the government are a little more aware of what's going on elsewhere but we can't be certain.[/worry mode]
If he sees this thread, war may well come sooner rather than later....

😉
He was schooled in Europe, from accounts supposedly shy, a bit lazy and an American Basketball fan. Not that strange.
Publicly having a go at someone powerful is a strategy as old as the hills for politicians to build a reputation. Surveillance has not highlighted any new or unusual troop movements.
Looks like he got his phone, furniture and Dictat-a-chair from The Regency Royal Hotel in Llandudno. That place is in a frikkin pinky-beige timewarp! The whole faded pink, beige and grey is a bit old peoples home dahhling, not saying World Dominating Dictator now is it?
THink he needs better lighting. Can't they afford menacing red lightbulbs? Like when a Hollywood nuclear sub goes defcon-1 whoop-whoooop. You know shit got serious when they start with the red lightbulbs.
One of the US targets was Austin, Texas. The residents wonder why, exactly:
Austin on North Korea's Hit List
http://www.neatorama.com/2013/03/30/Austin-on-North-Koreas-Hit-List/
I wonder why they feel so threatened, that they have to act this way. Like a Jack Russell in front of a pitbull.
It worries me that the Americans may respond if provoked dragging us into a conflict "again" that we can't easily extricate ourselves from. Plus with China and Russia sitting in the wings what could ultimately be the outcome.
There's no value in it for the Americans. North Korea are virtually no threat to the west.
Not to mention the people are slowly becoming aware that they're being spoon fed crap from their government. In the unlikely event it did come to war, it wouldn't be another Afghanistan.
To be honest, I think much of this is propaganda for their own nation, rather than for our benefit. The internal politics of North Korea is utterly twisted and ohnohesback is probably right....just Kim Jong Un flexing his muscles, showing his authority.
Or....he could be a nutter! 😮
All this posturing, and the Nuke program, likely comes to nowt. They want Nukes to gain power and influence, but using them means MAD. Or just AD, in KJ-u's case. But in that case, they have no power or influence, if they're dead. So they won't use them.
I hope.
North Korea's run by a psychopath & South Korea's run by the Americans
South Korea is a fully fledged democracy that happens to have close relations with the US for obvious historical reasons, why would you state something like that?
I'm guessing because rossi believes that South Korea is very dependent US support. Like it was during the 26 years when it was a military dictatorship.
South Korea just happens to be a "fully fledged democracy", but that has never been a prerequisite for US support, so probably not really very relevant in this context.
And I think the point he was making in his op was that both sides are likely to have gung-ho attitudes, which doesn't bode well. At least that's how I read it.
^^^ That's spot on Ernie- exactly how i meant it.
Without the US the South is cattle trucked. And the US aren't exactly shy about "kickin some ass"
If he sees this thread
That's quality 😆

Kim's always had a soft spot for the Pieman.

Doesn't LA have a house there? Maybe the North Koreans had put a hefty bet on him winning the 2013 TdF? Nowt like the threat of a nuclear butt kicking to focus a cyclist on the job in hand. It's a fair chance they don't know he's banned yet...
All depends if the US have a pile of bombs near their use by date, could be cheaper to drop them on someone rather than follow all the enviro recycling regs back home.
Today's North Korea Headline
Why should restarting a nuclear reactor and nuclear weapons programme be seen as particularly provocative in the case of North Korea when many other nations already have them or are trying to aquire them?
Where's Kaesae? I miss his brand of slacktivism 🙁
This image makes you think- half of the world (and most of the worlds most populated parts) is nuclear. And Korea is right bang in the middle of the most concentrated Nuclear parts of the world.
Admittedly China and Russia are considered allies by NK.
What if it really did kick off? The Cuban missile crisis only needed a missed phone call or a wrong thought for everything to disappear under a mushroom cloud. 😯
Edit: Here's the map again with all the stats
showing capability as land aread is a bit misleading, given that the US has NATO deployment sites across Europe and the Europeans/ US have greater submarine capability than most of the Eastern side of the map.
It seems that the closing of the Kaesong industrial complex is the next play in NKs hand, not much left after this apart from sinking a ship/shelling an island.
This is getting some press here in HK, not too sure whats happening in the mainland though.
"Hans Bwix? Muufu**er! You're breaking my balls here Haaans! I'm a vewy busy man!!"
Actually Tubby McFat**** does have a smartphone, there was a photograph of him released by accident a few weeks ago, it was on the desk next to him.
Tubby McFat****
Is he Scottish? ❓
Tubby McFat****
😆 😆
Sitting waiting for my flight home, TV headline in the lounge (CNN) says, "N Korea approves nuclear attack on US".
Crikey.
best to kep an eye out for low flying missles on the plane back home, they may not have a great comand of geography
That was rather the worry! Seeing as I'm currently in the geographical region that would be "Target Number One" for Tubby's missiles......
Actually Tubby McFat**** does have a smartphone, there was a photograph of him released by accident a few weeks ago, it was on the desk next to him.
Well, he's not alone in that; many of the *better off* in NK have smartphones, computers, flat-screen TV's, pads, etc.
NK really seems to be poking the dragon asking for instant sunshine over Pyongyang.
Oh well, looking forward to watching videos of F-18's wiping out armored columns and the yanks generally bulldozing everyone with high explosives north of the border.
Interesting news for once.
That was rather the worry! Seeing as I'm currently in the geographical region that would be "Target Number One" for Tubby's missiles......
Just start a new thread,
"What precautions and tyres to use incase of a nuclear holocaust"
China remain very coy...
From CNN:
North Korea stirred up fresh unease in Northeast Asia early Thursday, threatening attacks by a "smaller, lighter and diversified" nuclear force and warning, "The moment of explosion is approaching fast."
See, it's that little Korean bloke with the suitcase- i'd keep an eye on em! 😉
Seriously shit uniforms there. No decent villain has such a lame dress sense.
That hairstyle went out at the end of the Rave scene era 😉
Plus the guy on the right can't even put a hat on his head straight. Considering they can't even dress themselves properly, I'm not overly concerned about their military capability.
When they finally get invaded and wiped out by the Americans they'll probably find that their plans for a nuclear bomb consist of sticking a lump of uranium in a microwave and setting it to 'Re-heat meal' for 4 minutes....
I love the way no one really seems to be taking the North Korean nuclear threat very seriously.
Despite the fact that the North Koreans have nuclear weapons, have announced that they are expanding their nuclear weapons programme, and have publicly declared that they will use nuclear weapons.
No one seems to be particularly very worried.
In contrast Iran has no nuclear weapons and has publicly declared that they have no intention of acquiring any, and yet we are told by the US, British, and Israeli governments, that we should be extremely worried indeed.
It seems as if not having nuclear weapons causes more concern than actually having them.
Or are we simply reassured by the fact that because the North Koreans are quite clearly completely bonkers they pose no threat to anyone ?
There is clearly a great deal of difference between the perceived nuclear threat posed by North Korea and Iran as offered to us by US/British governments, but it defies all logic.
Of course one country has a great deal of oil and the other has no oil at all - perhaps the clue lies there ?
Spot-on, Ernie.
Iran is also stuck between nuclear-armed ****stan, US-occupioed Afghanistan & Iraq, & hostile Arab states, yet they are still non-belligerent.
If Kim Jong Un is this bonkers, I can't wait for the sequel: Kim Jong Deux.
IGMC
As I've said before, I don't think there is likely to be a resumption of active hostilities for several years yet, though in an atnosphere of heightened tension there is always the risk of an 'accidental' war.
After a while KJU will be able to claim that as the US hasn't attacked the DPRK that his policies are a success, thereby strenghtening his position.
And while we're discussing the Korean situation acn we please refrain from using pejorative language regarding KJU's body mass index? This topic deserves more serious consideration than infantile remarks such as those give it.
pejorative
Ooh, look at you ... is that your "must use" word of the day?
#currentlyworkingonchildishpostsevenmoresothanthisone
Twee townie welly telly and that incessant, infantile background 'music' is teeth-grindingly obnoxious! Here in the wilds of Zuzzex Country file is a swear word. I'd like to give them all the Deliverance treatment...
http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/never-mind-songs-of-praise-its-countryfile-that-hacks-me-off
So, you'd like to do unmentionable things to the presenters and staff of countryfile, but your Korean lunatic mate is untouchable?
Interesting.
The Korean man has big missles! 🙂
The Korean man has big missles!
I'm calling that a euphamism! Are you calling him fat? 😉
The other, more worrying aspect of the situation is that China is mobilising its forces. A Korean war would be bad enough, but a war involving China and the US...
war involving China and the US...
Will not happen.
Without the US buying thier products China would have a rather large problem.
