I'm on the lookout for a new bag.

It's for everyday use. Carrying lunch, pencil case, food, some small tools, etc. Circa 15-20l

I've had a couple of tarras bags which have been great but on occasion not quite big enough.

I've had a couple of Timbuk2 bags which I liked save for that velcro rip sound everytime you open it.

So no velcro then. I like the Whitehouse and Cox Michael Palin bags but knocking on £400 is not something Id be willing to pay for a shoulder bag.

I've tried the Fjallraven messenger which was nothing more than a document holder, really small capacity although I did like the waxed cotton and understated looks.

I've tried a Millican back pack too which I like but it suffers from the same issue as all other backpacks, you need to empty it to get to that packet of Frazzles at the bottom.
I prefer a shoulder

Any suggestions?

Wow, you get through some bags!! What do you do to them??............Have you considered Trakke? I've one of their Messenger Bags, which I use as my main camera bag, seems ok to me!

Don't think I haven't thunk of that. I do like Trakke stuff and they're local.

I have a couple of their bags and I do like the build quality and sustainable ethics. I had thought about the Bairn but @£130 if it's not for me it's a fair few sheckles.

It's on the shortlist though.👍

I bought a Patagonia Half Mass back in 1999 when I started a new job.
I'm finally thinking that is looking a bit worn and faded, and perhaps I need a new one in a few years.
It takes 15.6" laptop, lunch, stationary and my travel mug.
I use it on overnights too - on top of usual things I can get spare pants, shirt and toothbrush in (etc).

I have 2 crumplers. A bigger one that I got as a gift nearly 20 years ago and a smaller one as my daily roughly 10 years old. Put through the washing machine now and then and they look amazing. Simply not wearing out and a waterproof built-in liner. Spilled my coffee the other month when I didn't fit the lid right. The drink poured out of the bag rather than soaking in. TK maxx have them now and then.

I suggested Trakke, but have you considered the Peak Design Messenger? Ethical company, put a lot of effort into design. I have a few of their other photographic products and am very impressed.

Chrome citizen, or whatever size suits. Spendy but by the gods, bomb-proof.

From firsthand experience, would be looking at Crumpler or Kruga.
Both well thought out and rugged enough to last.
