Surely they are being gifted material on a plate. Time to start a petition for its return? (petitions fix everything don't they?)

Armando was quoted during the final series of saying that it was getting increasingly difficult to parody government, he claimed they'd write a scene one day and then have to rip it up the next when it actually happened...

I agree, I think they've just given up - I mean is there anything left than can actually be parodied?

Even Spitting Image would struggle now (Farage kind of reminds me of Spitting Image puppet, come to think of it).

Power monkeys wasn't bad

But in the world of post truth politics, satire seems irrelevant

Trump and Farige are so ludicrous that written as a carachter for TV they'd seem too far fetched

Could we have Armando write the news instead? It would be less ridiculous that way.

Same with Brass Eye and The Day Today, rolling 24hr 'news' has leapfrogged the satire. Or Black Mirror, suggesting a PM could have carnal knowledge with a pig.

Couldn't agree more!

However like just said - we are in a permanent parody.

Is what I was thinking - if they used any of current events as plot lines you wouldn't believe them.

Just like Roy of the Rovers too - you'd laugh at a storyline of Leicester winning the Premiership or England being embarrassed by Iceland....

Politics now is more like The Day Today than The Thick of It.

I thought the Day Today was a real news show.....

Especially the paedophile special.

I remember watching this for the first time and being in stitches because the idea was so ridiculous.

And then it happened the other day. (Ok it was arena not stadium but close enough)
