It's been a predictable step on the journey to a technology led world - and there's no way we can stop that journey.

The upside of technology is fantastic but the downside is now too big with too many (potential) threats and risks to down play it.

What would 'Ned Ludd' make of it? It's not as if there are any machines to (threaten) to destroy.

Whilst I totally agree that it's insanity to roll out AI with little regard to the huge risks... What are we talking about here?

Seems like there's negligible human involvement in the identification of targets and them being sent to drones to carry out the attacks. The Terminator got it wrong I guess, this shit wasn't supposed to happen for another 6 years.

That's horrendous, especially the 'where's daddy' element that tracked suspects to their homes to take them out when they knew they'd be there sleeping, including their families, not when they were at a military location 😞

That is one of the worries these days.  At one point you would just have had to be paranoid to think they were after you but now after the revalation of just how much data some countries suck up and also the Russian lady that was living in the USA but arrested when she went to visit Russia again because she donated to a Ukrainian charity you realise that they don't need to target you now, they just need to suck up data until they have a reason.

I think with nukes, to use them even tactically was a very big binary choice with huge consequences. You either use them or you don't.

AI is going to be far more insidious with infinite shades of grey and much more open to mission creep and escalation.

The AI didn't decide the collateral damage ratio that was a human input.

Very convenient for Netanyahu and his military buddies to blame an AI misidentification for three high-precision surgical strikes on three individual targets at three separate locations on a road identified as having no insurgent activity. Still, mistakes happen in the ‘fog of war…’. 🤷🏼

Let's see if the US turns Biden's 'outraged' comment into meaningful action - by blocking the anticipated sale of $18 billion of F15 jets to Israel.

Biden has every reason to stop this planned sale; apart from the obvious ones, he cannot continue leaking electoral support in what looks like a very tight contest due to his perceived refusal to condemn netanyahu and back up his words with actions.
