Clint's the best.

Ever since I crept into a Brittany Ferries' showing of Outlaw Josey Wales when I was 9 or 10 I was hooked. In fact, I'd take a lousy Clint (Joe Kidd, Heartbreak Ridge, Bronco Billy) over almost anything else.

Here's my current top five:

Outlaw Josey Wales
For A Few Dollars More
In The Line Of Fire
Billion Dollar Baby
Honkytonk Man (yes, I know, but I love it).

If you're with me... what's your top five?

All of anything he's ever been involved in.
He's a great director IMO, his work is often subtle and has a crafted feel to it.

I remember when I was about 8-9 sitting down with my brother & uncle and watching 'Dirty Harry' and for weeks afterwards my uncle would come out with all the classic chat from it. It was fantastic, the TV series Chips was new to tv then so I was really into Cops and Bad guys.

Dirty Harry
Unforgiven
Where Eagles Dare
Gran Torino
Million Dollar Baby

Looking at them all a Top Five is quite hard

Clint's the best.

Agreed very talented actor singer songwriter director and a half decent politician as i recall, but what is of far more import...

What happened to the 'big hitters'

How come the demotion

Where did they all go?

Edit, oh nearly forgot, top five hmm tricky.
I guess Unforgiven has to be up there.
Good Bad & Ugly
Dirty Harry
Jose Wales
Every Which Way...

Okay, I totally get Thunderbolt and Lightfoot being on the list. That's a damn cool movie. Same goes for Gran Torino, Eiger Sanction, Play Misty and Coogan's Bluff.

But Firefox? And Paint Your Wagon? 😕

Ouch.

Hey! 👿 I stand by my choice!

Having said that I might replace it with High Plains Drifter... now that's a great film.

Too many choices...

The term 'whattaguy' never seemed more apt.

When Clint croaks i'll genuinely have to take time off work to mourn as i'll be a blubbering wreck. No doubt ill croak first though, as he has an air of immortal about him.

Legend.

“These people who are making a big deal out of gay marriage? I don’t give a **** about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not?! We’re making a big deal out of things we shouldn’t be making a deal out of. They go on and on with all this bullshit about ‘sanctity’ — don’t give me that sanctity crap! Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want.” — Clint Eastwood in the October issue of GQ magazine

Not a huge Clint fan but he has made some GREAT movies.

His best westerns aren't 'just' westerns which is what makes them great.

Unforgiven - astonishing film even ignoring genre.
Pale Rider - best 'traditional' western ever made?

(pretty much the same classic western story film deconstructed in two different ways for different contexts - could probably group The Outlaw Josey Wales in with these too)

Dirty Harry - pretty much defined cop films for the next 20 years?

Then we get to the guilty pleasures.

Firefox - as a kid seemed like Star Wars set on earth to me.
Every Which Way But Loose - just plain fun.
