I saw The Smiths on The Queen is Dead tour at Gloucester Leisure Centre. Great gig and the support band (The Woodentops) were really good too. Scary how long ago it was.

🙂

Mozzer, unfortunately, has turned into a bell end.

Happens.

One of those bands that needed all four members - take any one away and they'd be just a curio.
As it was, they were bloody marvellous.
Still are.

Was just thinking yesterday that I don't have any Smiths on my NAS. All on vinyl. I need to address this situation. (No Morrissey (is it that hard to spell?) solo stuff though, nosiree)

Morrissey parked in the space next to me at the Sainsburys in Altrincham once. He was with his mum in a Porsche 993 Targa, that car would have been only a year or two old at the time.

The Queen is still not dead!

Which queen though? Queen Hypsipyle of Lemnos was dead in 1986 and is still dead now

Our 7yr old daughter has started to play "you're the one for me fatty" on repeat in the van

Could just be for amusement at the name though given it's title.....

One of my favourite albums, had it on (pre-recorded) tape and played it endlessly in the printed circuit factory in the summer of '87...

I was a huge smiths fan - they shaped my teen years and i managed to see them 3 times.

The queen is dead is still my favorite smiths album.

I remember my first copy of the songs being recorded from the john peel show just before the album was released. I then got a pukka copy (on tape). Driving around in my first car (an orange 1200 beetle) this album was played to death.

I know its over - is still one of the most heartfelt songs i have ever heard in my life and i still love it today.

But.. 30 years ago?..blimey

They were just so beautiful.

They showed a shy kid growing up in the west of Scotland under a Thatcher government that it was OK to be clever.

One of my deepest fears is that one day Johnny and Morrissey will succumb to this let's-reunite-for-the-cash bullshit. Please god no.

After lord know how long of driving into Manchester, I was stuck in traffic on Regent Road and happened to glance to my right and there it was, The Salford Boys Club in the flesh.

Bravo.

Although West Cumbria for me.
"there is a light that never goes out" is a wonderful song.

Incredible band, me and a mate were talking about how good the other two were as the rhythm section, Joyce and Rourke were just as important and Marr and Mozza.

Some of his solo stuff has been good, Everyday is like Sunday is a classic and I really like I just want to see the boy happy.

Easiest gig to get to the front of 😆

pic (not mine obvs) from that night.

Was that Jarman film on The South Bank Show at the time, with Melvyn Bragg??
I'm sure it was, not long before the concert. They were hardly ever on the telly.
