It's a classic 2 minute hate this- they were there to film a section for the program.

I mean, i'm ambivalent on the whole, but this is a bit weirder than i thought it was going to be.

We all sort of knew that it was going to be boring, and it is, but i'm not sure i was properly prepared for it to be boring in quite the way it has been.

I thought i might be able to avoid it a lot more than i have been able to - quite apart from everything else, my darling wife has developed an unhealthy fascination with THE Queue.

I am unable to even.

So someone tried to check if the queen was in the coffin (can’t blame them really) but no mention of it on the news or videos available on line

How would anyone know that they were trying to check what was inside the coffin? With about 8 guards armed with very pointy weapons surrounding the coffin they certainly wouldn't have got close enough to touch it.

I think short of turning up with a full set of cordless power tools they werent going to get into the coffin anytime soon and certainly not before an array of weapons from the medieval to very modern were pointed in their direction.

This is why it’s important to try to understand others as much as possible. It’s a major flaw of our society, that socioeconomic divisions prevent positive and progressive socialisation between people, and this is why we have such a fractured and dysfunctional society. Instead of just shaking your head and ascribing negative qualities in those who behave differently to yourself, why not take the time to understand? That would involve actually talking to their people though, and the British really aren’t very good at that.

I’m finding The Queue fascinating for myriad reasons. It’s not just ‘brainwashed sheep’ who are attending, it is a reasonably diverse collection. Although still overwhelmingly White, from what I’ve seen (admittedly limited). From that observation alone, we can extrapolate multiple explanations. But my main takeaway from it is that many people have experienced a sense of loss, and I don’t know if that void will be filled for them. So perhaps we should all be a little less judgmental and a little more empathetic.

Well, family members have been sharing photos since 4am from the queue. Quite atmospheric really. I think they’re going to have a great day. Not for me, but they’re outside in a city they love with a community of others. Easy to make jokes, but is that really such a bad use of a day?

Wonder if they'll auction the potatoes off on ebay after; could be a great way to own a piece of history!

I didn't fancy waiting 10 minutes for my mum's coffin to arrive at her funeral.

Its a terrible use of a day, yes. It’s difficult to imagine anything I’d rather do less with a day of my life than stand in a queue

Maybe a 24 hour back-to-back marathon of Adam Sandler movies?

Surely it is only a terrible use of a day if you have zero interest in the monarchy and don't approve of it?

Similarly it would be a terrible use of a day to travel somewhere to watch a bike race if you had zero interest in cycling.

Although tbh it would be a terrible use of my day and I love cycling, just not much interested in watching other people doing it.

The bottom line I guess is that it is hard to dismiss as a terrible waste of a day if you are doing something that you enjoy doing.

I notice from live interviews that some people are queuing in memory of recently deceased loved one, eg, the husband who queues in memory of his deceased wife who loved the Queen or daughter who queues because her father who served in the military would have wanted her to.

For these people the personal discomfort adds to making the experience a worthwhile exercise in memory of their loved ones. Watching it on the telly wouldn't have the same effect.

They will all be in a cafe after a ride, rather than waste valuable riding time as the days get shorter and the weather more precipitous.

They also defined you no matter how much you despise them otherwise you are not who you are. Normal behaviour in the grant scheme of things i.e. "Ying & Yang" sort of things.

For me it's football. I used to be a Man Utd supporter (allowed to be as I was born in that there Manchester), but no more. I don't understand why you would pay the players outrageous sums of money to run around a cold, wet pitch for 90 minutes, or call the striker/goal scorer a hero for doing that job.

But I do understand why some people have decided to queue and want to pay their respects to a woman who until her last few days was still having to put up with the likes of Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, now that in my book is a person worth queuing for.

I once queued for Elton John concert tickets for several hours in the late 1970's, sue me now :0)

Death is death no matter how grand one is.

While the ceremony is meant for the living it should remind us that birth, aged, sickness and death cannot be avoided.

When the time is up there is no escaping but just to comply.

Now that one has seen the passing of the Queen, the question one needs to ask is whether one has regrets in this life. Most of us do and very few don't. The only different is the severity.

Will I have a good death? I hope so but time will tell.
