To quote Gerald the Gorilla.
What album has really impressed you even if it isn't your normal choice of listening? For me it's Garbage.
Which Garbage album ?
i'm not one to normally be bothered by a production, unless it's really bad, but Ignite's "A War Against You" was absolutely spot-on.
Oops, sorry, Beautiful Garbage.
To be fair garbage is/was butch vig’s side project and he’s quite a good producer (see Nevermind)
I really like the first couple of albums garbage did
At the time def leopard, hysteria produced by mutt Lange set a standard for (over) produced hair rock!!
I thought Pyromania was a much better album, and sounded better, too: Hysteria was far too over-produced.
I don't understand the question.
Is it "what record didn't you listen to but thought it was good?" because that doesn't make a lot of sense. Or "what record shouldn't you have listened to, yet enjoyed?"
I don't know.
always like the way the production contrasts
Dr Dre - The Chronic
End of thread bitches.
Sadly this group never did make it in the 80's one album only and it was all over ..
I thought they were going to be huge ..
The group was Fashion and the album was called Fabrique..a real headphone album
This is the closing track " Slow Blue "
The production on that album...
er...can't say I've ever, no, sorry. Have once watched a docu about Sgt Peppers production, which was interesting, but that's it. Have a massive music collection, but always been a bit more basic for me, good luck tho, with your more in depth view.

No the question was "What album has really impressed you even if it isn't your normal choice of listening?"
I've always liked the awful sound quality of The Offspring's album Ignition. Sounds like it was recorded from the next room through a length of drainpipe, and that works for me. Dunno if that counts though
REM’s Document was always a brilliant sounding album. Their previous albums always sounded small but this was in your face and the drums sounded massive. It was their first collaboration with Scott Litt.
Dave Fridmann worked some magic with Sleater Kinney's The Woods - huge sounding album. Great band but were basically starting to sound the same, change of direction created their best work (IMHO).
M83 -dead cities,red seas....
At the drive in- relationship of command
& any thing by moderat/apparat.
Always sound magnificent me .
If I was in a band, I'd want to sound that good.
Micheal jackson 'bad' album is very well done. Not my normal listening but can really show strengths and weaknesses in a sound system.

Sounds even better when uploaded to youtube. Proper authentic punk.
Hell Is For Heroes debut Neon Handshake- probably helps that it was eternally delayed so they could polish every song and every riff to absolute perfection mind but it still sounds incredible. Obviously youtube has trashed this but it's still great.
Well obviously it has to be Johnny Mathis' I Only Have Eyes for You. The production on that album is superb
Paul Simon’s Hearts and Bones, and Dire Straits Love Over Gold are stunningly well produced, and King Crimson recently released a live album of their 2016 tour, Radical Action To Unseat The Hold Of Monkey Mind, the production of that is superb as well.
Dr Dre - The Chronic and Love over Gold are definitely good shouts.
For me it's Dave Brubeck -Take Five. Absolutely sublime production considering its age, although I am lucky enough to be listening to it on a pair of Harbeths 🙂
Hole - live through this. It's beautifully recorded.
Art Pepper meets the rhythm section.
It's very dual mono in presentation but never heard a snare like it.
