A new album in early 2021 and a couple of good songs already. Them and Halestorm have kept me going for a couple of years.
I have nothing constructive to add other than to agree and say that these have been my two favourite 'new' bands of recent times. I bounced between their albums when training for the Manchester 10k over a few years, they're just the right tempo for my running cadence.
I've been tamping for a Pretty Reckless gig for yonks but (CV aside) they only seem to ever do pondside. Halestorm were the opposite, I discovered them when I tripped over them accidentally in a random tent one Download and went "holy crap!"
Its a yes from me 🤘
And from me.
I've been following The Pretty Reckless since Make Me Wanna Die and Halestorm since I Miss The Misery.
I've been lucky enough to see both live; Pretty Reckless were supporting Five Finger Death Punch and Halestorm were on the bill with Shinedown (who were OK) and someone else, who I can't remember other than they were shite (despite being the headliners) so we left early and missed the post-gig parking exit debacle.
And me. TPR is all over my turbo play list. I’ve not listened to Halestorm though so will give them a go.
Try tequila mockingbird an the Ammorrettes too
Currently they're sort of the same band
Just sounds like a James Bond theme tune to me
I love Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless. I've seen Halestorm a number of times but hadn't seen TPR, was supposed to see them at DL in June, oh well...
Ammorrettes are very good too. I quite like Beth Blade and the Beautiful Disasters for a smaller band, they were great live in Inverness when I saw them a couple of years ago.
I'm also rather keen on In This Moment, for a more metal sound.
Just sounds like a James Bond theme tune to me
Phew. Not just me then. 👍🏼
Phew. Not just me then. 👍🏼
Or me.
I did not know the Pretty Reckless are still a thing! I liked that one first song that got a lot of airplay and the fact that wotsit from Gossip Girl is the singer. Will listen.
EDIT: The new song in the OP is a bit histrionic for me but I like the Fall Out Boy style breakdown about 3/4 of the way in. Also it made me want to relisten to this:
Saw Halestorm when they were supporting Alter Bridge in Manchester a few years ago.
They were awesome and the wife likes them so that's a bonus.
Seen them a few times since. Always put on a good show.
Haven't seen pretty reckless yet
I did not know the Pretty Reckless are still a thing!
Indeed. I saw them at Hammersmith doing Make Me Wanna Die. And sort of forgot them until I saw the Going To Hell album on iTunes. An absolute favourite now.
Looking forward to The Pretty Reckless new album. The tracks I've heard so far are good. Also looking forward to the new Kaleo album at the end of this year.
Apart from TPR’s ‘Make Me Wanna Die’, I’ve not heard much of their stuff, or Halestorm, although I’ve got The Hu’s re-released album with Ms Hale supplying vocals, which is excellent.
This came up on Flipboard the other day, sadly it doesn’t seem to be available as a single yet. Her name is is Floor Jensen from Nightwish.
Halestorm were on the bill with Shinedown (who were OK) and someone else, who I can’t remember other than they were shite (despite being the headliners) so we left early and missed the post-gig parking exit debacle
Black Stone Cherry were the headliners, assuming we were at the same gig/tour. They were indeed shite, I've never seen a band apologise on stage before for how bad they were.
That would've been the Carnival of Madness tour, we saw it in the Glasgow Hydro, thankfully BSC were superb that night! Shinedown however can get in the sea! 😆
It was Alter Bridge. They were dire.
@eddiebaby - I’ve seen various videos with Floor listed on YouTube, but not got around to watching them yet; I’ll try to watch that one and some of the others soon.
Going back to TPR, 6Music played a new track while I was driving the other day, which is off the new album I think. Just called 25, but it’s not on iTunes yet, only Apple Music, which I don’t use. Liked what I heard, though.
That's the video in the first post.🙄
Alter Bridge were headliners.
Agree with others, they were shite.
We left after before the end of their set.
Pretty Reckless have just thrown up this acoustic version of 25.
Sounds even more like a Bond theme.
I was today years old when I learned the singer was the wee girl in The Grinch Stole Christmas!
Edit.
No. I like to think I'm beeter than that and she certainly is.
If you like The Pretty Reckless and the aforementioned Halestorm you might get on well with the likes of Nightwish (Floor Jansen is their current singer), Leaves' Eyes or Within Temptation. There are loads of other female fronted slightly gothic/nordic tinged metal bands from the continent of varying quality.
I love TPR and Halestorm but despite my love of Floor Jansen's voice I can't stand symphonic metal. My loss I'm sure.

Yep, I'm with you there. There's the odd track I'll hear that I quite like but just can't really get into it. Release the Archers are about as close as I can get and even then it's a push.
A new video for 25.
Even more definite Bond theme posing. Is this a job application. 🙂
The new single. A bit average I thought until Tom Morello turned up for the solo. 🙀🤯😎
One week to the new album
I'll certainly be adding it to a Spotify playlist 👍
That's an... interesting album inlay which I cannot possibly repeat here but you might want to look up on Amazon.
Indeed - Taylor certainly isn't averse to showing off her assets.....
It's one way to shift physical media!
What, more 'interesting' than the cover of Going to Hell?

Boobies!
Boobies! The harlot! The internet will break.
Just had my first listen of the new album (forgot it was released yesterday). Pretty darn good, nothing I'd call filler on there, not having the distraction of touring seems to helped on the getting material together. Of course having heard three of the tunes already is weird as we heard DXRNR ages ago.
A sold 8/10 from me with the tracks 25 and And So It Went up there with their best. IMO obviously.
I don’t think they’ll ever touch some of the songs on the debut but I look forward to giving it a listen later once I’ve fixed the burst pipe.
Has Babs Broccoli ditched Billie Eilish’s song yet?
Sadly no. 25 is pure Bond theme isn't it?
First album was OK with Light Me Up, Make Me Wanna Die and Miss Nothing but I think they really got it together on the Going To Hell Album. Thats the current high water mark for me.
