From the same director as [i]Blue Valentine[/i], which was an absolute [i]gem[/i] of a movie, and pretty much one of the best anti-date movies ever made - the more so for being entirely believable.
By comparison, [i]The Place...[/i] felt sprawling and uneven. A good cast and another signature performance by Gosling, but at one point it seemed to turn into Stallone's [i]Cop Land[/i].... Nice cheeky trails moto-cross sequence, though. 😀
