ZiZi? Is Wayne Rooney going to come on and Meg him?

Very disappointing for him not to stick the head on someone

It had a strobe warning but it needed a gammon trigger warning too. So far we've had an implied bisexual threesome, male couples, drag queens a blue smurf in a posing pouch and they've given an award to a fella that looks after refugees.

I’m afraid 30 minutes of first class lasers does not equal even 5 minutes of a decent county council fireworks display let alone London 2012

Have just come in from the pub and now watching half arsed BMX, skaters and break dancers slithering around on piss wet through ramps who must be wondering how they'd sold out and got involved in this shit.

They should have kept the Tdf final stage into Paris and had Pogi with a flaming bike coming down the champs elysee.

At least they let Celine's piano survive. Thought it was a goner for sure.

Nice to see her belt one out after all her difficulties. Not my cup of tea, but she's a trooper.

Well that exceeded my tolerance for interpretative dance by about 90 minutes.

My main takeaway from this is if you want to create some atmosphere, hold the ceremony in a stadium with a crowd.

Oh and apparently they hoisted the Olympic flag up upside down.

I blame the Olympic committee they should demand games are prepared by someone creative, what happened to all the French Singers and use of language -  What the hell has Snoop Dog got to do with France.

Statues of French women who fought against colonialism, followed by Gaga, Snoop and Minions.

Celine Dion knocked it out if the park but it took a reported $2M paycheck to get her.

Watching women's single scull. Question, do all the teams use standard equipment? I can see in sculling equipment could make a difference (and cycling).

Not standard equipment for rowing, but the speed differences between manufacturers is small and there is no alignment with particular nations as far as I know (unlike UK track cycling). If you are good enough to race at the Olympics, you'll have a queue of marketing guys keen to lend you a boat.

I wouldn't have expected anything less from France.

A bit of culture, tradition, some unashamedly cheesy pop (plus some random US stars) and a good side helping of provocation. Some of it might have missed the mark or been rained off like the floating bmx ramps, but the parts that worked were fantastic;  medal fabrication/notre dame, the Marseillaise, the Gojira opera revolution mashup, that horse and Celine Dion belting out Edith Piaf from the Eiffel tower.

Some stuff dragged on a bit (see what I did there) or was just way too French such as Phillipe Katherine as Dionysus on a platter singing Nu. Think Jarvis Cocker crossed with Neil Hannon and you're in the right neighborhood.

BBC are limited to one broadcast and one digital. One of the reasons I signed up for Discovery+, apart from the cycling, was they have every event live and on-demand.

he did an amazing job to get back in.  The coverage isn't great though as you can't really see him making the time up.  I would have thought that nowadays there could have been a live tracker of everyone's time and position.  I'm guessing for the olympics they have to try and even out coverage across the nations but it means you miss some of the excitement
