So, at the top of the forum page I have a list of the various replies to my threads. However, I have no idea how to use that list.if I click on one of the replies I seem to just be taken back  to the main forum page.if I click on read then it just marks the reply as read. Is there somewhat I can click  to read the actual reply or have I missed something?

It's just there for decoration.

Just adds a nice dash of red to the top of the screen.

They don't.

And for clarification I'm not blaming you.

Ah OK. I thought I was missing something but clearly not

It is indeed a nice dash of red though. I sort of like it

It works in the sense it shows more responses, but clicking on the 'alert' message takes me to the Forum homepage and no sign of whatever thread the response was made on (I don't sit on this site 24/7 so can be a couple of hours between visits (actually they mostly coincide with toilet breaks!), so if the response is made as soon as a reply is done then my thread should be top of the forum).

If only there was a page that showed the last time somebody posted on a thread you posted on.... I saw that once it was quite useful.

+2 I miss the old forum, fast, light, simple. It seems really slow and clunky now, for seemingly zero advantage, other than perhaps more monetisation. I defo spend less time here, so perhaps that's a silver lining for everyone else.

I care less about them than I do most things in life.

Yet strangely intrigued to know who the 138 followers I have.. 😜💋
