Now, as anyone who knows the original Fleming books will realise, Dalton is the best film Bond. Closest to the Bond he wrote, you see. Craig is the second best, that's for certain.
So, who next?
McMoonter.
Getting your name in the hat early, Flashy?
Agree about Dalton (there don't seem to be too many of us though).
Next? Not sure.
Craig must have at least another two films in him, so we're looking a good five years down the line?
I reckon James McAvoy might make a decent fist of it.
McAvoy would be a good bond, aye, though he might struggle to fill Craig's shoes since he's brought the physical sides out so well... but lets keep Craig for a bit longer- after all,he's the best there's ever been 😉
(OK, he's maybe further from the original character than Dalton. Don't care. These are films not books)
David Hasselhoff!

Until Bond gives up Martinis and turns to tea and cake I'm oot.

Fleming saw his Bond character and novels, although clearly rather fantastic, as fairly serious propositions. The films, well certainly the early ones, saw it all very much in terms of tongue in cheek with a lot of comedy potential. And quite right too. It's a shame that the later films started to take the absurd character of Bond in a much more serious light.
Agree about Dalton (there don't seem to be too many of us though).
I think The Living Daylights is the best of the Bond films. Skyfall is probably the best of the DC ones.
But God, there have been some mediocre ones over the years, you only realise when you watch some of them for about the 4th time and wonder "what were they thinking?!"
Idris Elba

That's tongue in cheek, right?

+1 for Dalton... And for Living Daylights until they go to Afghanistan and the movie goes tits up.
Licence to Kill is cool too.
To be honest, I'm not really feeling it for Craig. Casino Royale was pretty good, but Quantum of Solace and Skyfall IMO are just okay.
#daltonrocks
+1 to Dalton followed by Craig as the top two bonds.
Dunno who would be best next, but didn't Roger Moore carry on until he was 57? Craig's got some time yet!
My list...
Dalton
Connery
Craig
Moore
Brosnan
Lazenby
I defy anyone to disagree with this definitive list.
Craig
Dalton
Connery
The rest.
DeadlyDarcy
I like Craig's bond. Casino Royale is my favourite, however I like my action/spy films played a bit straighter. I might get shot down in flames here, but I much prefer the Bourne films.
For suggestions how about,
Michael Fassbender?
Henry Cavill?
Dirk "Faceman" Benedict
But God, there have been some mediocre ones over the years, you only realise when you watch some of them for about the 4th time and wonder "what were they thinking?!"
were they the ones with Roger Moore in them?
IMO:
Connery - well, he made the role and the role kinda made him
Dalton - closest to Fleming's idea
Craig - second closest
the rest
My vote for the next goes to Rob Warner, maybe he can take Nigel Page along as his Scouse Q, eh [s]Rob[/s] Bond these new wheels make you super slick mate!
After that the usual suspects then a completely random shout.
Dalton is generally under rated except on STW where he is over rated.
Thing is they were sort of set in their times and these days Bond should be a sort of Bourne character IMHO as the gadgets and cars and girls etc is a tad outdated.
Shame though as I do love Bond.
Me.
Connery is number one on the list... of worst bonds.
I've never read the books. Anyone care to explain how doing so would lift Dalton from the bottom of the list to the top?
Totally different type of spy work but I'm stil waiting for the Andy Mcnab books to be made into films.
No best bond actor. The best films are the first ones each of them made. Hit or miss after that
Onzadog.... because he isn't connery.
Bond is supposed to be a bit of a thug not a prancing tit in a suit.
I didn't think he was too bad, but the worst thing about this movie was the speeded up sequences.
actually quite amusing...
I always though Bond films were stupid, until the Craig ones. Hard to tell who's the better actor as the DC films are SO much better, and would be whoever was in them. Craig does nail it though. By far the baddest ass Bond, no question.
DC has signed up for 2 more I think. They will be shot back to back as he feels he is getting too old for the role.
James McAvoy is about 5'4". He'd make a great Bond as long as the baddie is Warwick Davies.
Lazenby really wasn't that terrible
very self-effacing
It's about time we had a female Bond... So I propose:
Ashley Scott
Or
Kristianna Loken
😉
So who would you pick for the bond boys?
His fans keep saying "Dalton"
But strangely nobody mentions the thing that ruins his credibility as Bond
"Timothy" 😀
Sorry, it just doesn't work 😉
Stoner has it (the correct sequence, not 007 potential 😉 )
Never read a Bond book but always thought Dalton was under rated and enjoyed his 007 films.
I vote Ben Affleck next.
Fiona Bruce - Dalton's looks, Moore's eyebrows, Connery's tattoo (ok, only guessing there), Brosnan's ability to sing (sorry now I am going way off-piste)..... 😉
Was Skyfall DC's latest? We liked his first two Bond films as they had a gritty reality to them but the last returned to the more 'normal' stupid puns and silliness. If the next two are in the same vein, we won't bother.
I think Lazenby was great.
Connery in From Russia With Love. There was a hard edge that disappeared in his later films, but a bit of lightheartedness too.
Quantum of Solace was one of the worst of the entire franchise IMO - a third-rate Bourne rip-off with no discernible plot.
Agree about Dalton (there don't seem to be too many of us though).
+1

My Grandfather was the Art Director on that film...
I had the good fortune to meet Timothy Dalton, top bloke and too handsome for his own good.
I couldn't bring myself to love Skyfall. It was fine but it didn't make sense in so many ways. Not as good as previous Daniel Craig bond films.
Skyfall made a bit more sense than Quantum of Solace, mind. But then I've seen picasso paintings that make more sense than QoS.
Alas, the list is not as complete as people would care to think. There is no mention of David Niven as _Sir_ James Bond, or Woody Allen as Jimmy Bond, both from Casino Royale (a much underrated Bond film).
What about Russ Abbot's portrayal of Basildon Bond?
Had a Bond ever been nominated for best actor at the Oscars?
James McAvoy is about 5'4". He'd make a great Bond as long as the baddie is Warwick Davies
Genuine lol! 😆
Tim was always my favourite. it helped that he was a proper actor.Agree about Dalton (there don't seem to be too many of us though).
jason isaacs would be good.
could i be miss money penny, plleeeaassssse?
McAvoy is far too weedy to be bond.
Jason Statham.
Maybe David Jason could give the role a wee lift.
The name's Bond - Del Bond
Idris Elba is an excellent suggestion actually.
Bet he's already being tapped up.

As Northwind says though, Quantum of Solace was utterly incomprehensible. Not really Daniel Craig's fault though.
Still, at least it wasn't as bad as that Brosnan one with the invisible car.
There was rumours a while ago that it would be Clive Owen, and I thought he would be good. Maybe too old now and is he that active in films any more?
Jason Statham.
😆
Too East end, me ole China.
Quite simple
Clive Owen - he'd be awesome
Clive Owen - he'd be awesome
I agree. However, he was considered, and possibly even approached, before Craig. Not sure he wanted/wants the gig.
