Personally I prefer stoning. The bloody woman is reprehensible, unspeakable and downright vile.

I think the Independent had the right approach this week. They just wrote her an open letter saying that that was that, they were no longer going to write anything about her.

Final sentence,

Hopkins left the Sun last month, and has been signed as a columnist by Mail Online.

There's really nothing more I can add to that really.

Please try harder next time revs...there's a good chap.

Someone in my circle of acquaintances mentioned she went to school with her and said she was a piece of sh1t back then too. Which got me thinking how old is she?

Turns out younger than me....Christ she looks haggered....let's hope she continues on the slippy slope and tootles off soon.....disgusting person.

Some people are obnoxious...she's right off the scale.

Although I think she is a twart of the highest order, she does comes out with things I agree with from time to time.
" It’s fundamentally stupid if you can’t afford to feed your family but you have an iPhone 6" being one of them.

" It’s fundamentally stupid if you can’t afford to feed your family but you have an iPhone 6" being one of them.

Except that you missed out the rest of that quote from that article:

"I don't believe in equal treatment". She added: "I don't believe in food banks at all … I don't believe we are all equal. It's fundamentally stupid if you can’t afford to feed your family but you have an iPhone 6. All the kids on free school meals have iPhones."

Which is quite a bit less agreeable and essentially just a spin on the old "these tramps and Big Issue sellers are secretly millionaires, that's why I never give them any money" nonsense.

That's exactly how this game is played though.
You wrap your hate in something that people find hard to disagree with.

That's how Britain First and other such hate groups got widely shared on Facebook.

One of my ex's went to school with her too, don't think she was held in particularly high regard!

Used to work in a cake shop in the town at weekend apparently.

Obnoxious stealer of oxygen

She was pretty reasonable when she did a talk-show on LBC a while ago - surprisingly tolerant and interested in her guests opinions and also receptive of their views.

Better than some of the other hosts on LBC I thought.

Reactionary politics + reactionary journalism. If you have a moderate centre-left viewpoint you'll get shouted down these days; social media is mostly to blame. Owen Jones uses similar techniques to whip up the crowd.

The whole point of her existence is to provoke a reaction...why do you think that the Faily Heil hired her?

She doesn't believe in most of the things she comes out with, but she does believe in the ££££s her publicity earns. She's a non-celeb, a paid arsehole, a rent-a-gob.

If everyone ignores her, she'll go away.

yes, it's another STW thread about a woman.

This had occurred to me too. However, to class her as a woman is to insult most of womankind; she's more of an amorphous parasite of a superficially female appearance. I'm not even completely convinced that she's human, tbh.

Yes, bit depressing - though "attention whore" is nothing to do with being a prostitute, even in the loosest sense

You could argue that she's bring ing out the worst in people but that's no excuse for this shit

I am starting to think that Hopkins, Price, Andre and the Kardashian clan etc. are constructs placed in society to distract the ordinary folk from what's really happening. It amazes me that people actually care about them and what they do.

I agree about the unfortunate use of misogynist insults on this thread, but I think "sexual acts on the side of a road" is a reference to a news story about her getting caught shagging her boyfriend in a field by a road (it was on Celebrity Juice and everything).

But yeah, it does still smell a bit like misogyny.

I'm still not really sure who she is

I know who she is, but I have literally no idea why she is famous.

Was there a "Britain's Got Offensive Opinions" show or something?

Looking at her Twitter feed she seems to go for a machine gun approach. Four tweets in the past hour, one of them is bound to get quoted in the papers, job done for the day.

Not read the thread enough to know whether misogynistic or it i just hatred of her but i do agree STW tends to sexism when it comes to threads about women

She appeared on The Apprentice a few years ago, but turned Sugar down (AFAIR).

She was dragged onto radio occasionally for soundbites to wind listeners up, eg. anti-worker's rights, anti-maternity leave type stuff. I'm guessing papers, media organisations saw the "click-bait" attractions and started using her more to get readers, etc. Then there was the baby's geographical names furore, which (again AFAIR) sparked a fairly funny thread on here. The more reactions she's got over the years, the more reactionary her profile & outpourings have become.

Like any other human with a sense of superiority, I am embarrassed I know all this about her, and plenty more, but anyone who spends any time on social media can hardly have avoided her over the years. She's been quite pervasive.

There are certain parts of the world where, if you went in front of a group of churchmen and stated you were the new (insert prophet of your choice) you would run a good risk of being nailed to a tree, or something.

So presumably she is quite happy living in a wishy washy liberal state, depite apparently hating it, and everybody in it.

iirc he was a married man and it was an affair and i think its ok to judge her for this personally.

I don't; simply because it's lazy.

She - or at least, her public persona, who knows whether she believes half of what she says - is just so absolutely obnoxious and has such a goldmine of material to condemn her (should anyone care sufficiently to do so) that pulling her up for taking tea with the parson in public just makes me think "really, is that the best we can manage?"

Take the iPhone comment. All kids on free meals have iPhones? Do they? Really? All of them? Have you got a source for that comment? Did you conduct a poll? Are you in fact aware of any kids at all who get free meals and have an iPhone? Or it it a "fact" you've just made it up to sound controversial and incite public outrage? We don't know, yet the intellectually devoid Middle Englanders lap it up, which is probably why she said it.

Because, even if this "fact" isn't made up, which it almost certainly is, it's just oversimplified propaganda. Sure, I don't doubt there are families who make poor financial decisions (and who need help, not hatred). But how about little Timmy, his family are poor, he has nothing of any value. He really, really wants an iPhone, more than anything in the world. So he saves his pocket money, the meagre pence that his parents can afford to give him. He takes on a paper round, he washes his neighbours' cars and helps out in their gardens, and clears their paths in winter. It takes him a year of graft, and he finally gets enough cash together to get a battered second-hand model from Cash Converters. His proud parents scrape together the money for a pay-as-you-go SIM, and Timmy carries on with his odd jobs to keep it running. It's his pride and joy, his most treasured possession, maybe his only possession of any note.

And then complete strangers walk past him in the street, see him with an iPhone in his hand and threadbare holes in his jeans and immediately conclude "scrounging doley scum yet can afford an iPhone" because Katie ***ing Hopkins.

So if the most damning thing we can muster about her is that she had al fresco sex once, well, frankly I'm fresh out of shits to give about that. About the only emotion I can force myself to muster is mild surprise.

The fact he was married , not to her, will make many folk think less of them both.

I don't; simply because it's lazy.
Its lazy to judge her or all people who have affairs?

I agree what she says and does is worse but I really dont think its bad to judge folk on how they act - as a mod its what you do on here [ no offence]

I also think a hate filled offensive troll really ought to expect that folk will do the same back to her. Neither is right but it will happen.

TBH there is no point attacking her ideas as no one actually thinks she means all of what she says and she just wants the oxygen of publicity

There was no legitimate public interest in whether someone off the telly was having an affair. There was plenty of pursed lipped prurient interest though.

I can't believe that people on here are actually putting effort into debating the likes of her or Piers Morgan, or Jeremy Clarkson, or Richard Littlejohn etc etc.
There's a long line in front of a constantly revolving door with these clowns queuing to get in.

Ckarkson was slagged off on here for extra-marital sex and being a boor. Does that make us man haters?

I think shagging a married man is part of the evidence she has no morals and shouldn't be left out just because she is a woman.

I had never heard of her before this thread BTW.

There was a very revealing portrait of her in the Gruniad back in the summer..

No excuses offered here:
She has a medical condition which means she may very well die early e.g. 40-50 something.
She has struck gold in that she is willing to be controversial in media and gets paid a lot for it, perhaps doing so to help provide for her offspring as she doesn't expect to be around for long.
She has a history of overt deception and lying to get jobs, like not telling the Army about her medical condition.
Her current husband wants nothing to do with the media
She doesn't articulate herself very well and has no "filter" there are grains of truth in some of her observations but they are masked by some pretty vile viewpoints.
When the father of one of her children left her for someone else, she phoned the other women and asked for him back...
She's basically a knob.

the last bit is my own conclusion, the Gruniad would never be so rude.

There was no legitimate public interest

I cannot help but think that somewhere in the midst of tiem the establishment has lost its way in the meaning of this phrase.

The legal system talk about "in the public interest" meaning its for the good of the public to find out about somethng or to prosecute some case. The papers take it to mean - will enough people be "interested" - the answer to which is, if it's lurid enough then yes. And somehow the two have crossed over. I call for a redefenition..

In Guardian Newspapers Ltd and Heather Brooke v the Information
Commissioner and the British Broadcasting Corporation
(EA/2006/0011 and 0013, 8 January 2007) the Information Tribunal
said at paragraph 34:
“Mr Wells also exhibited to his statement a long list of
press articles relating to the affair. Lord Wilberforce said in
British Steel Corp v Granada Television Ltd [1981] AC 1096
at 1168: “There is a wide difference between what is
interesting to the public and what it is in the public interest
to make known”. We did not find that the list of articles
assisted us, since in the selection no distinction was made
between matters which were in the interests of the public
The public interest test

to know and matters which were merely interesting to the
public (ie, which the public would like to know about, and
which sell newspapers, but which under s 2(2) are not
relevant).”

Woah!

Well that'll teach me to post in a contentious thread then bugger off and do something with the rest of my day.

Erm. I think my comment may have been misconstrued. If I may be allowed to rephrase:

mintimperial - not a troll

Gosh! Isn't that Katie Hopkins a bit horrible! I think it's probably generally ok to say mean stuff about her because she's horrible, though.

Furthermore, I think it's interesting that even though she's horrible, and thinks that everyone who disagrees with her ("the left") must be intolerant, just because they disagree with her, nonetheless many people on here who do disagree with her are still prepared to pull others up when the terms of their condemnation move beyond the boundaries of generally acceptable disapprobation and into sexist or otherwise discriminatory abuse, which is a sign that those who disagree with her ("the left") are in a large part not intolerant at all.

Finally I would like to observe that she's technically very good at what she does, which is no reflection on anyone else, particularly not the reader of this comment, nor does it constitute an appreciation of her oeuvre.

Is that better? I wasn't attacking anyone or looking for a fight, I was just sufficiently struck by KHs latest daftness to feel moved to comment on it, but next time I'll keep me gob shut, don't worry.
