I would prefer to twist, but interested to see if I am the only one...
Like it so stick.
+1 twist
Can we have the old one back please
I'd like to be able to see more than 6 words on a line and 2 lines without scrolling
It wasn't broken so why has it been "fixed"?
Stick
Works for me, I’m pretty sure the great majority of people, being shown the new font, and what was used before, wouldn’t be able to see any difference whatsoever.
I like it.
It was initially a bit less legible but now the leading's been increased I think it's ok.
Stick
The only standout odd thing is the ST watermark, which does nothing other than highlight the frame boundary, other than that i think everything is starting to look alright.
Font is OK, the font size and word spacing is completely borked on Safari, looks like it's been set up for 2 years olds to learn to read....
Don't get what the problem is. The whole new website seems fine to me.
Spose that'd be a stick then!!
Looks fine to me
I'm viewing on safari and I'd agree the text is a little on the big side but then a lot of people were complaining about legibility so maybe it has to be that way for the middle aged cyclists with eyes like mr mole.
Verdana
It's working fine ffor m, so stick. SwiftSwi cocou do wwit sorsorti though. But swiftSwi is a known prprobl, so I'll hhav to sort it mysmys.
(Swiftkey is a known problem, so I'll have to sort it myself) 🤔
Assuming I'm seeing it correctly (and it looks the same for me on both Android Chrome and Linux Vivaldi), I'm happy to stick with it.

Comic Sans and I'll stand down as Moderator.
Font is fine, but please can it be darker?
(That was not an invitation to start a campaign...)
I quite like it. Which font is it?
I quite like it. Which font is it?
I believe it's Montserrat or a variation thereof.
I like the general style, but find it's too wide. I don't know why, but reading it makes my eyes feel strained.
I've been using my laptop for most of the evening & my computer at work across loads of websites & programs from Word to Pro/E to SAP, looking at pdfs and technical drawings. I've even downloaded & been fiddling around with Fusion 360 this evening - my eyes have been fine across all of this stuff, apart from the when reading the new font on the STW forum.....me no like.
Stick, although I still need my glasses to read it🤓
I don't much care for it. There are much more appropriate fonts out there. A bit style over substance. As we are stuck with it I'll live with it, especially if the navigation issues get fixed sometime soon and the formatting improves.
Stick, I like this version bar the still missing “threads I’ve replied too and now fresh they are function”.
Oh, and a tiny bit quicker too please, I’m on a 300Mbps line and it feels like dial up sometimes.
The font is a bit light for me. Legible enough shape, but not enough contrast.
Got old eyes, but no problem previous forum.
Still, the forum is getting there. 🙂

Oh...I should add that looking at the site now on my mobile and the font looks and reads fine. I don't get the same feeling of eye strain that I do looking at it via pc/laptop.
Stick!
RM.
on desktop, it'll do in the threads, just. But the blue/grey on the main page hurts your eyes though.
I'd also change it up a weight, just slightly, again just for eye staining purposes. It's a nice font, just a touch too light, particularly on anything but black.
if too many twist, they'll bust
so stick
looks alright to me on Chromium Linux and Chrome Android and FF Windows . Not sure what font it's supposed to be, but it's feasible the browser picks a substitute anyway if it was meant to be something fancy.
fixes still needed elsewhere as a higher priority imho, but that's one for one of the other threads.
As with pretty much everything else the old version was superior.
Current font doesn’t look good and is hard to read. Double basic fail.
Dip into the stickies in here and realise that it’s gets angsty when the obvious is pointed out. So won’t mention shambles.
Stick for me, it’s a font......I have larger things to think about than a font. Plus I work in IT and know that these changes and a website re-skin takes time and I bet the designer will be cheesed off if all their hard work was in vain...
Twist. Needs more weight on iPad. Looks fine on mobile browser though.
Fine for me on android 7 mobile.
Stick.
Stick - but enhanced contrast please.

... I’m pretty sure the great majority of people, being shown the new font, and what was used before, wouldn’t be able to see any difference whatsoever.....
Errr I'm not sure what you're seeing but it's clearly different to me! The new font on every device I've used is much bigger than it used to be, and seems to be a 'rounder' font, I think the characters are all slightly wider than the old font.
Actually, the font in the new reply box looks exactly like the old forum font (from old posts, not the old reply box). It's much smaller and has a larger character height:width ratio than what is used for the current forum. I'll see if I can manage a pic...

The text in this reply box is what the old forum used to display as on all my devices (android tablet and phone, windows 10 laptop). The old reply box used to be some sort of typewriter style like Courier New. Anyway, the new one is larger and rounder than the old one, visibly so, and I think is a bit less legible. But that's mainly because of the font width (and possibly the line spacing).
and a tiny bit quicker too please
Off-topic here, but STW is looking to move hosts. The current host can't cope with the traffic AFAIK.
It's Gash with a capital G, but would be low on my list of priorities.
Stick, I like it.
There are more important things to worry yourselves about than the font on a forum.
The designer will be cheesed off if all their hard work was in vain…
Well if people don't like your design then you arent that good at designing. As it happens I like me the forum on an iPad Mini and never go on the website much so all is good with me. Except the font. Fine for small amounts of copy but a bit tiring for more than that.
Stick, I like it. Not an old skool font snob.
Debating the font on a web site? Seriously?
Go get yourselves some life people, before it runs out.
I don't like it much but it'll do
(I changed from Firefox to using Chrome recently and back on firefox it looks much better and is a different font - weird; I've never set a preference in either)
Can you change default fonts on Chrome?
(Chrome on left, FF on right)
Stick
For me, the actual text in the threads is ok, but the list of thread titles is a bit pale.
(This text I'm writing now is perfect.)
Hmm just getting the winter poll.

Most of the original comments were about reqdability but i guess we are going straight to popularity now.
It's fine for me on whatever I've read the forum from so far.
Stick. Absolutely.
The font and text within individual threads is fine but the main front page forum bit is awful.
There's something about how it adapts to different display types that is ****ed, so something needs to be done about it.
It looks fine and dandy on my phone, great on my iPad and ok on my laptop, but on my 24" screen at work it looks utterly shit. Comic Sans actually looks better. Hey but what do I know, I've only got a million forums on the internet I can compare it to, which all look so much better.
However, there are so many more things wrong with the site that I'd prefer to see sorted! Especially the navigation to your last posts, who last posted on a thread and all the American shite spelling. I can just about live with the font, but if those things don't get sorted I'll be dumping Singletrack.
Er, soooo TWIST!
The font and text within individual threads is fine but the main front page forum bit is awful.
See, now this proves that it's the adaptation thing that's wrong - the front page looks fine on my screen (maybe a bit too faint), whereas the inside threads font is the one that looks crap.
Twist. It looks awful. Too big, and no serifs.
It's only a step away from ComicSans.
Like the font, it's a probably 1pt to large on my phone if I was being fussy. And on the PC the input box font is too small.
Ooh - just done a zoom-out to 90% (ctrl-scrolldown) and it looks ok now. I'll keep it like this.

This is one of my favourite things - that people are so thick they don't get the irony of posting such a statement.
Stick - I quite like it, and have no issues reading it, even with flux enabled to kill the blue light from my screen when working late. Same applies on my phone.
and looking a bit more at it, the one in the posting box I prefer if a little bigger.
The REPLY TO title looks like it's double spaced - not in a good way same with the VERY BOLD thread title, it's OK we know it's the title it's at the top of the page, looks more like a basic attempt at using word Headings 😉
I don't mind the font but why oh why do winking designers have to use something other than black for lettering?
fonts fine, its the forum main page that needs a tweak for me.....
i agree it should be black, and same size as the font in the threads themselves.
Stick. Absolutely.
Stick, but fix some of the sizes e.g. "Reply To"
It’s Gash with a capital G
Looks more like Verdana or similar to me, but I'm not a graphic designer or anything.
Thumbs up from me anyway. Looks great on PC.
It's not actually surprising that there's so many different answers in this thread - everyone sees something different! 😆
Now that the line-height/leading has been increased it's not too bad.
However there are more readable fonts out there, so it's a twist from me.
If we're throwing typographical terms about, I'd maybe play with increasing the kerning a touch, if that's possible.
> It’s not actually surprising that there’s so many different answers in this thread – everyone sees something different!
Yep big difference between my work PC and my home MBP. Windows PC / Firefox looks better, but still both less readable than the old forum. I don't get the obsession with ridiculously large font sizes, I can only see five one line responses on a single page on a 1920x1080 monitor!
It's completely inconsistent between the front page (list of forum topics) at normal font size and then you click on a topic and get 'My first book' font size for 3 year olds?
Stick for me. Wasn't too sure to start with but it's grown on me over the past couple of days.
I really like the new look and as long as all the issues are getting sorted out elsewhere, which they seem to be, I'm more than happy.
As said up there somewhere ^^ I have far more important things to worry about than the font on a forum which I use.
The new font is horrible.
By no means the biggest problem with the forum though!
For me the colour contrast needs to be sorted - on the listing pages the text is so light there is no way it meets AA standards - it blends dreadfully with the white background.
EDIT: It looks better on a different monitor (on my MacBook Pro Retina it looks too light though).
Also - the text sizes seem all to pot to me.

in related fontybollocks. this has started appearing on my work PC:
Looks ok but needs more contrast. Not in the OP's original post but I miss the forum search. I used it loads.
Edit: Ignore that, just seen it at top of page. Not sure its as good as old search though.
I don’t mind the font but why oh why do winking designers have to use something other than black for lettering?
Eh? All the text is black!
For some, including me, the main forum index has a shade of blue.
Stick - "On my screen, using my browser and OS, with my eyes, it's perfectly readable everywhere, and gives a nice new fresh look to the site."
But for me, it's a Twist please, for the forum lists and body text. The reasons have already been done to death on multiple very boring threads, with some valuable, free, contributions from people with some professional experience in this area, and also some users experiencing issues with it. The body type in the forum has much improved with the tweaks made… but it's still using a lovely font for a purpose it is ill suited for.

Looks miniature on my PC, in the reply box. Looks different elsewhere.Certainly doesn't look great. Appreciate you may be having a different experience to me, it's all over the shop.
