Too cloudy here otherwise I'd have one or more scopes out.

Going to try some real close in moon photography this cycle.

Has been for a few days. I tried to take a photo but it didn't end well. Astrophotography is hard.

Noticed them getting closer each evening. Tonight's the closest they'll appear. Another conjunction at the end of the month - https://in-the-sky.org/newsindex.php?feed=conjunctions but might be difficult to see with the naked eye especially as it's very close to the horizon.

Very good forecast for Northern lights next week too. What a time to be alive!

@Cougar -very hard. For some reason I really enjoy it though!

Close in moon shots will be a new one for me though and no idea how they will turn out 🙂

Also ISS passing by shortly. Should be visible just before 20:30, look to the south-west.

Thanks @CraigW just went outside to catch the ISS, three amazed kids, and one chuffed dad 🙂

Right, second series of 13minutes to the moon to get stuck into.

Just went to shut the back door and was in awe of the pair tonight.

Is it me or is the sky a lot clearer than usual for half past eight? Maybe it's just a clear night but I imagine a fraction of the number of cars around is making a difference to the air.

Had a quick walk in the woods at 8 tonight with my lad and he pointed it out to me. There also seemed to be a lot of satellites visible.

It was a lovely clear night earlier, I went out in the garden with the dog and saw a bright satellite cross the sky, turns out I’d caught just the right time to see the ISS.

And then driving to work we saw what looked like a mini meteor shower.

Overcast now though so my view is spoilt 😞

Maybe it’s just a clear night but I imagine a fraction of the number of cars around is making a difference to the air.

It is more likely to be the reduction in air travel that affects clear skies, although general pollution reduction helps. It was pretty similar when that Icelandic volcano grounded the planes across Europe in 2012.

I am also enjoying the lack of a constant background motorised hum, and it's not like I live in the middle of a city.
