This came through my notifications for contracts this morning.

An artisan town centre development is needed - off to a good start.

What on earth does an artisanal town centre look like? Should HebTroCo be involved? Does it have a sourdough only bakers?

If it means independent, characterful businesses over beige, clone stamped chain stores, then great.

Erm, there's been an Artizan area of Dumbarton, just west of the High St, since Moses wore shorts. Now't to do with beards, braces or sourdough.

This bit.

As nouns the difference between artisan and artizan is that artisan is a skilled manual worker who uses tools and machinery in a particular craft while artizan is ?

while artizan is ?

A chocolatier who specialises in using marzipan?

More seriously given the relationship between z and s in the English language I would assume its an older spelling.

WCA's question +1

Matt - sorry to disappoint but the OJEU notice is to appoint a development consultant to, presumably, identify options for
re-developung site of the Artizan shopping centre after demolition.
Having said that - artisan town centres...much fun to be had with that conceit and the whole artisinal/hipster/craft 'movement'.

*slowly clocks on*

So the shopping area is called Artizan - hence the odd spelling?

Artizan is definitely the first thing that springs to mind when driving through Dumbarton. That, and making sure the car doors are locked.

The Artizan disappeared when they put the dual carriageway thro the town, my gran had a sweetie shop pulled down. Gave us a concrete alley for a shopping centre in return. Typical posts of putting down west coast towns🤔. Rough as hell no way, was locked out of my car with the engine running in high street once, walked home and picked up spare key. Car was not touched when I returned. Try that where you live?
