I'm only a casual observer of XKCD (but an avid reader of the What If and Thing Explainer books) and didn't know the backstory here, so for anyone else
"In November 2010, Megan, then fiancée (now wife) of Randall Munroe, the illustrator behind the brilliant webcomic xkcd, received the devastating diagnosis of stage III breast cancer. Throughout her eight months of treatment, xkcd posted several comics about the diagnosis, treatment options, T-Cells, gaining perspective, getting tattooed for radiation, and fear of looking too far into the future."
And the post itself 😉

Jesus christ.
Bit dusty in here.
Excellent, just put this in the 'good things about existence' file 🙂
Tears here.
Wheeeeeeee!
I thought the rule was never post xkcd without the mouseover text, though in this case "The ten year cancerversary is traditionally the Cursed Artifact Granting Immortality anniversary" doesn't add much.
Tears aside, this mainly made me think jesus, was that ten years? Feels like about three.

Here too
Awesome stuff. I'll be coming up to my 30 years cancerversary next year. Medical science is pretty decent.
30 years cancerversary next year.
Here’s to many more for you.
Mrs FB is 3 years in. In fact, 3 years ago today she was in surgery.
Here’s to many more for you.
And to your missus. 🙂
I'm 25 years clear of my cancer. On a much sadder note my brother's partner was not so fortunate with her cancer and passed away 18 years ago. Every survivor is wonderful news but we've not completely beaten it yet.
It's kind of amazing that that made me feel happy. I love XKCD.
xkcd is one of the constants in my life. Other webcomics have come and gone, I still read every one of Randall’s.
And xkcd 552 has been on the lock screen of my phone as long as I can remember.
completely beautiful
