It would appear Condensed milk is the new flour, can't be had anywhere locally, my ice cream production has ground to a halt! (which, waist-wise might no be a bad thing!).

Haven't a clue what's causing the shortage.

This sentence makes me feel odd and I don't really know why.

By far and away the worst current shortage is the persistent closure of the council waste recycling facility.
Everyone I know has carloads of stuff to be skipped that they've cleared out during the lockdown and have nowhere to dispose of it.
The day it opens up again will be utter carnage.

I just did that for my last caramel shortbread as I couldn't find any in cans

the persistent closure of the council waste recycling facility

Ours opened on Monday, 5 minute queue to get in but I think I just timed it right as they were backing up pretty badly when I came out..

Fence paint. Especially in this year's popular grey colours.

Ms fadda has spent an inordinate amount of her furlough'd time trying to track some down!

I don't see a trip to the waste recycling centre on the list of permitted reasons to leave the house.

Exercise kit - like rocking horse poop! Which is a great thing for the industry, at least one is thriving as folks sort home gyms etc.

Everyone I know has carloads of stuff to be skipped that they’ve cleared out during the lockdown and have nowhere to dispose of it.

Ours reopens next week for "essential waste that you can no longer safely keep at home". That's going to be a nightmare. Luckily garden waste collections also restart this week.

We've deliberately not cleared out the garage, two sheds, Guide unit store shed, Scout group store sheds, as we've nowhere to get rid of it, although we'll not have a better chance, timewise I guess.

Plenty of skips on drives around the village, looks like a few friends and neighbours have clubbed together and done it that way.

I'd imagine that's part of the reason why they are closed....but, one day, they won't be and there will be a reckoning.

There's a mountain of junk out there slowly building and when it lets go it'll be a crapalanche.

Fly tipping is up massively due to tips being closed, see piles of it everywhere when I'm out riding. Way worse than before lock down.

I've got a skip in the street for the landscaping work but as I don't need all the space (they delivered a bigger size than I asked for), all the neighbours have been emptying their green bins into it, so we can continue gardening....

As for shortages, struggling to find Allbran at the moment, and tonic water keeps selling out everywhere #middleclassproblems

yeast has still been an issue locally

You can make bread with the yeast from unpasteurised beer, though you might need to bulk it up beforehand with a warm water/sugar mixture. Although different types of yeast are used between bread and beer, they all do the same thing (eat sugar, fart CO2) just with more alcohol in beer yeasts.

Alternatively dried fruit is covered with the stuff.

It wasn't my reason for leaving the house, I drive past it on my way home from work (can't fit 3 machining centres in my shed so have to go to work).

Well, given they are re-opening nationwide, I assume the authorities disagree with your assessment. What else are the nation's households meant to do with all their additional waste given they are in their homes 24 hours a day? We have tried using neighbours' bins but we still have additional waste so I am going to the recycling centre tomorrow - go shoot me.

Halfords BMW Jet Black paint within 30 miles of Southampton.

Do not start a respray job with 'almost' enough paint before discovering you cannot get any more anywhere

Aye, when our recycling centre opens it'll be a tad busy! They should probably rota it by postcode or something, but our local one is subcontracted, and they don't really give a flyin ****.

I’m making almost everything with roti flour because I’ve run out of everything else. Probably only have yeast to last another week.

Local tip is doing appointment only, it’s booked out 5 weeks ahead now. I got a skip delivered instead (lots of “building waste” to clear that the tip won’t take anyway), the guy who dropped it off said they were really busy with everyone doing the same.

Our local Morrisons is selling it loose weighed in bags, I think it's excess from their in shop bakery.

They should probably rota it by postcode or something, but our local one is subcontracted

Local tips reopened around here on Monday. They're controlling the access by doing odd & even reg numbers on alternate days, with no vans or trailers allowed.

I've got next week off so may venture there then. Not even thinking about it until then, it'll be bedlam

Kerley did warn us.

Baking goods are available here but yes low stocks.

Tips reopened too on the grounds of people are storing rubbish unsanitary and unsafe conditions, one person can drive to the top only 2 cars in at a time and no assistance from staff. Seems reasonable to me.

Well, given they are re-opening nationwide, I assume the authorities disagree with your assessment.

You mean the country of England where it appears there's a strong belief the virus no longer exists.

I'd say the authorities did no assessment at all.... But what ever you choose to believe.

Still shut in the other 3 countries that make up the nation.

@perchypanther
The places are still open, just not to the public.
We hired a skip (proper certified company) 8 cu yds for £250 ish... (with neighbours contributing £60 for a bit)
There was a supplement for mattresses and we'd managed to fill it anyway and local council recycling contractor picked it up for £30 (then would have been £5 per additional 'large item'.

**Amazing we'd filled it considering I'd used saws and grinder to compact everything .. I got a whole bike (BSO) in a shoebox sized space (except one rim I kept for Jnr to rattle on Thursdays)
