It's been ruined over the last few months. Look at this lovely high res image on a retina iPad.

[img] [/img]

Is anyone at the magazine doing any quality control. Pocketmags are ruining your hard work.

How do you access the mag via the app if you're an existing premier subscriber??

POSTED 10 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

There is a link on the Premier member tab, says it can take 7 days to set up, I'm still waiting 6 weeks on...... 🙄

Andydicko I don't think they actually check the mailbox those emails go to. I did it three times. I called the office in the end. I wouldn't bother with the app, I'm going to start downloading the PDF

In the same vein as the Apple adverts...

There is a fix for that!

It doesn't involve an Apple product though...

Was going to ask similar - I pressed the link weeks ago and no response. Not sure what I'm waiting for- an email from pocketmags? Doesn't look worth having from the look of that mind. ...

Cheers for the heads up mate, yeah think I might just stick to the PDF's in iBooks. But it would be nice to get some sort of response.

Guys, its 10 at night!

I'm confused why you are getting the replica print version on your iPad. iPad users are meant to get the custom iPad designed issue and not the print copy.

Tom and Patrick will be devoting their day tomorrow to sorting out Pocketmags accounts for everyone who has ticked the box to have one in their profile pages.

So in short it looks like the resolution issues are because you are getting the wrong version for your device. Why that is happening is the issue we need to look into.

Email tech@singletrackworld.com rather than post here at night.

Think yourselves lucky you get anything at all, countless mails to Singletrack and pocket Mags and still being asked for 3.99 to download a digital version of the Premier account subscription I requested months ago.
MBR seem to manage to make it work... 😆

Sorry for the delays in activating. We didn't launch the activating link in the profiles as we wanted to control the initial flow of new account setups. Needless to say it has not gone as smoothly as we hoped. Your account link won;t work until you have received an email confirming the link is there. If you haven't had that email then you will be asked to buy the issue. as your account hasn't been activated.
We sent through the first batch of accounts several weeks ago and for some reason they have not been activated. Tom and Patrick will be devoting their day tomorrow to finding out what has gone wrong and they will fix it.

Now, the way it will work (when it does) will need explaining. Our Premier system and the Pocketmags system are two very different things and getting them to 'talk' to each other is clearly more difficult than we had anticipated (although I suspect the issue here is just a communication glitch that has meant the account confirmation emails have not been sent out). But for those who activate this link, we will add a single issue credit to your pocketmags account each time we publish a new issue. You can then use this credit to download the new issue.

However, you will, if you choose to, be able to use that credit to download any other issue in the Pocketmags Singletrack library. It's important to be clear that if you do decide to use your credit in this way you won't be able to download the latest issue without buying it from Pocketmags. In otherwords the link won;t work like the Mag Archive does in that as a subscriber you can download every back issue you want.

Why is this?

Each credit we add to your Pocketmags account we are charged for. We can't allow full access to all back issues in the Pocketmags library because the cost to us would be much too high.

So.. Mag Archive = Knock yourself out - download the lot - as often as you like.
Pocketmags App = 1 issue credit each time a new mag comes out.

Now... All we have to do is make the bloody thing work!

Once again.. Sorry for the rather rubbish launch of this part of our subscription. We are working very hard to fix it.

Thanks for the lengthy response (late at night!) to this Mark. Hopefully it can be resolved soon because it does like a nice edition to the subscriber offer.

Well, that's not gone too well then.
Aft er somebody posted on another thread last night I thought I'd have a look to see if my account had been activated, though I'd not received any emails saying to was in operation.

A bit of faffing and sure enough I find I can download an issue. Grab the latest one in the store, and have a look- turns out to be last months. Oh well think I, the new issue will be up in the next day or so. Now I find I can't download it without paying again, as per Marks explanation.
Very surprised by the quality issues, text especially doesn't look great on an ipad.

Anyone else got an illegible single speed bike test page underneath the camelback review? I'm wondering if it's just me or a pocket mags issue?

Works fine for me, and looks pretty high res on my ipad. Although I'm not sure i want high res of some beardy bloke in a lumberjack shirt.

All of it is fine for me apart from that one single speed page

Edit: just updated the iPad app and it's still as bad - just that one page

Although you shouldn't be receiving the replica version on your iPad, I am going to uploaded a higher resolution version of it.

We haven't had this problem using the office iPads, so haven't been able to do a controlled test of all that could possibly go wrong.

Thanks for your feedback.

@Bigc, I guess it different expectations, for me that looks horrible.

@Mark, I sent some feedback from within the app last night, and that seems to include all the details of device and versions etc that will be useful.

So a quick question. I pay 2 quid a month for the premier so I can read the odd article and support STW. Do I really have to stump up an extra pound a year to use the app?

Atlas, Yes I'm afraid we can only offer the App link to annual subscribers.

Arcing, thanks for the feedback. We'll look into it. Grace is already working on uploading a higher res version of the replica issue although we are still not sure why anyone with an iPad is not getting the ipad version.

the low-res pages shown above aren't limited to pocket mags - the low quality PDF's I download for use on the tablet have probably 10 pages or so like that, the rest are clear text. It's like some entire pages have converted as a low res image inc. text, rather than low-res images and sharp text as per the rest of the PDF.

I've had continued communication throughout the day with Magazine Cloner, and their advice is "delete and redownload of the issue should resolve it... If it doesn’t please ask them to contact us."

The app itself has been updated recently, please ensure that you're using the latest version of the app (with the large black and white banner across the top).

Well, I can honestly say say I'm really pleased for the people it's working for, tried to download the latest copy and STILL being asked to pay £3.99 ! 🙁
No email for activation, based on the nice words above I really expected to see this move on but apparently not.
Pretty frustrating really.

Grace - I personally have now been waiting almost 3 months for the "activation link".
If you tie up with someone like PocketMags then really - it's not hard to pass over a database of subscribers is it...
You have an obligation to provide the service that you are charging us subscribers for - for those if us that STILL have no access to the app - do we get a refund? A discount? Moon dust?....
Afterall we are being charged for that part of the subscription yet do not have it...

Hi Simpsan,
That was a call for people interested in being in the trial. The trial was oversubscribed and I don't think you were included.

The opportunity to opt into app access was made available in December and from what I can se you have not opted into it.

We should have the technical problems sorted soon so if you want to opt in head over to your account page and tick the box

Patrick - I opted in in october - again 4 months ago.
All I've had since then is this ...

Access the Singletrack App

To access the Singletrack App we need to create a account for you and share your name, email address and number of magazines remaining in you subscription with our App provider pocketmags

You have requested that your subscription details are shared with pocketmags. It may take up to 7 days for your pocketmags account to be credited.
Further information on App access and your subscription.

Nothing has changed since then at all other than my patience getting shorter..

Hammy, there was nothing to opt into in October. The system wasn't activated until mid December.
What we are talking about is the check box in your user profile settings that you must tick in order for us to send your details to Pocketmags.
You've not ticked the box yet.
What I think you are referring to is our earlier trial where we asked for volunteers. You weren't selected for that trial.

Mark - trust me - I ticked the "check box" in October - the quote above is directly from my "Premier" page.
Just in case you missed it...

How long are the "days" where you are?

You need the email stating your user ID (email address) and password, mine is not the same as my singletrack log in details so if you've not got it then I guess it's not been activated yet.

I was on about the "check box" as well not the trial.
That's the whole point - sod all has happened about it for months let alone "7 days"...
No email from either STW OR PocketMags about anything other than taking my money for a renewal that still doesn't include access to the sodding app!

You can't just download the app and get the issue for free as a subscriber. You have to login to the app itself to access the free credit. The instructions on how to do this are in the email that wax sent today.

To be clear.
You must login using your email address and Pocketmags password. If you don't have your password then use your email and the retrieve password function from within the app.

All the instructions and links are in the email you are sent from us

I got the email today. An account has been created for me- I had to click on the link from the email to send me my password. On the app though I can log in, I can't yet see I have any credit to download a copy without paying. Perhaps the credit takes some time to be added. I'll wait and see.

Edit- ignore last. I've just gone back and now it's downloading. It must just take a little while to recognise the credit.

The credit is for the current issue 79. You shod be able to download that issue without paying for it. The link next to it should say 'Download'. If you can't downliad issue 79 then email help@pocketmags.co.uk and they will fix that for you.

Just an observation, this all seems a bit complicated doesn't it?

Still no email for me (from stw towers or pocket mags) so yet to actually try it out but surprised there isn't a more straightforward way of doing this. It is unusual nowadays to see so many people getting confused about what is essentially a transaction. Suggests more than just user problems...

Not a member but youd think this pocket mags site could specify that new issues are 'pre-paid' from the point the account is activated onwards, then you wouldt get the problem with accidentally spending your credit on old copies.

Actually the credit (for me anyway) was for issue 78. I clicked on the purchased button and that was the issue waiting for me to download.

Aha!
I think that's isolated the probem.

The accounts activated today were for those who ticked the box before issue 79 was published. That would have given them a credit for issue 78. Those accounts now need a credit for issue 79 now.

So how do we get the credit for issue 79?

Actually quite good once you download it. Surprisingly advert free. It would be more intuitive to me if all the articles were all in a single column rather than then lengthy ones using using two columns. That way you would always be at the top of an article when you swipe to the left of right. A few dodgy low res images and a couple of duplicates (one hi res, one low res) but looks like a nice way to digest the magazine content in the future.

Yep, I'm in the same boat... Got my email this evening & a credit for issue 78...

I'd be interested to know why you guys went with pocket mags, the use experience so far has been diabolical and, judging by all the delays, the implemention hasn't been silky smooth either.

I'm currently emailing a big list of users who have been credited with issue 79. It will take me a few hours to churn through so you may want to head over to the app and see your yours is waiting for you.

For people who have opted in in the past 24 hours you will have to wait for a few days. It's still a manual process. However, we are working on implementing an API for this so hope to have a smoother process in future.

You can check your opt in status at

I spoke too soon! Issue 79 is a mess 🙁

There is a mixture of low res pages, wrong page order (through the grinder appears one swipe in to the Surrey hills feature) etc...

You must login using your email address and Pocketmags password. If you don't have your password then use your email and the retrieve password function from within the app.

I've been doing this but when I then try and log in I just get a 'Null' error message.

Will try and have another play later, if still not working should i go through STW or Pocket Mags to try and sort it?
