Just the right amount of forking silliness.
Agreed. And Ted Danson is great in it.
They are all great.
Jason and Janet provide some of the biggest laughs in the later episodes.
Best thing on TV along with Brooklyn 99.
Have to admit I was skepticism, but actually quite enjoying it now
Resistance is futile. I like Sean.
Love it.
Been binge watching it and I'm now near the end of season two.
Ted Danson is great and Tahani is very easy on the eye too.
She is.
And I have a bit of a thing for bad Janet as well.
Kristen Bell: the best reason for watching.
Picked a woman up today who hails from Jacksonville. I asked her if it it was like it's portrait in the good place ? She couldn't deny it wasn't, at least in part 😁
Not generally into American sitcoms, but that is an excellent show. The cast really work well together, Jason's cluelessness is the highlight for me, but they're all perfectly cast.
Not sure it’s useful to hijack a thread where everybody else loves something that you gave up after 15 minutes, because you thought it was abject drivel. 😉
it was abject drivel
Yes, but amusing drivel with an excellent cast.

Weird, I’d have thought you’d be well up for a show about the concept of heaven and hell...
Mr Woppit: I have some books over here that need their covers judging. Do you have 15 minutes? 😉
I think it’s great, and certainly silly. Hadn’t really got into its stride part way through the first episode, but I get that it might not be for everyone.
It's tremendous, perfect when you want something something light but not completely stupid to watch.
The last episode Janet(s) was particularly good.
It's not your fault if it went over your head Woppit.
It's one of the smartest comedies I've seen in years, not just because they work lots of actual philosophical issues into the plot but they keep it so light and fun while doing so.

You win. I gave it about 3 episodes hoping to see what people were raving about but nah. Filed under "Not for me".
Season 3 was a bit of a letdown until the last couple of episodes, especially Janets (one actress playing most of the characters, some pretending to be other characters, without it being any kind of stretch). Romcom init?
I watched it when it was first aired and it suddenly stopped before the end of the first season for a few months. I never went back as it wasn't that good and plenty of other stuff to watch.
Like a lot of programs, the idea is dragged out longer than it should be.
Shame you couldn't make it to end of first series, it does end exceptionally well. if you got close, I'd recommend giving it another go.
I watched a couple and thought it was abject drivel. But I picked it up again and it turns out it's not what I thought it was going to be. It focuses more on actual philosophy and has a lot of decent content if you think about what it's trying to say rather than just the gags.
It does take too long to get going, because it hides the intelligent content under stupidness. For example in the first few episodes the other inhabitants of the Good Place all look pretty far from the perfect people they're supposed to be - I assumed this was just crap writing and they just existed as foil for the few main characters they could afford to write who were also pretty poor and undeserving of the Good Place. But it turned out that was not just crap, it's actually part of the story.
It’s not your fault if it went over your head Woppit.
Get over yourself, Mary.
Myeeeahhhh it's OK, easy viewing but not a patch on Parks and Rec by the same write / director / whatever.
Holy mother forking shirt balls! It's back.
Still funny!
disaster. It's actually good, I've never seen it before and there appear to be 37 episodes. that's my evening shot then
I gave up towards the end of the last season as it was dragging out. I'll give it another shot.
hang on, back where?
Is this a delayed reaction to series 3, it's been a while!
Hmmm! I think you're right Toby1 there is no season 4.
No one tell Captain about Roger Moore.
I thought they'd commissioned a s4 which starts July sometime in the US (not sure if it's been announced for UK Netflix yet though)?
I quite enjoyed it, s3 a bit weak, some iffy episodes in s2 and Jason bugs me more than amuses me now but still looking forward to s4 (assuming there is one...)
July apparently. Though going back to look I realised I'd not watched ep13 on s3, so that was a treat
Bastards, the lot of you. It's late and I'm on season 1 episode 5. Need to go to bed, but might watch one more...
calling the Captain to explain himself...
S2 on E4 for us Luddites.
Thread Reboot
Watched the final episode last night. I am a wreck. I had trouble getting to sleep last night. Glad I gave it another chance as i initially thought it was pants 🙂
I still think the masturbating lady in he Medium Place is a superb comedy creation. Laugh out Loud funny!
The bit about unintended consequences really makes you think
I enjoyed it - especially the first two and the final series. My wife got bored after season 2, though. Series 3 was really weak for me - it was a bit too ridiculous and felt like they were stretching things out unnecessarily, but I'm glad I stuck with it - Season 4 was great.
<Mini spoiler alert>
The idea that (after)life is finite (but that's a good thing) did make me think about life in a way I wasn't expecting with a cheesy American sit com.
I gave up when season 3 and the start of 4 just became the same, I watched the last one though. Yeh glad I didn’t bother.
