Another Friday, another chance to show some fine sporting photography to brighten the day.

This week, let's have some pictures and their associated story. Could be an event you were at, for example, or just anything that meant something to you at the time.

For me, I'll start with this;

The Topper was the thing that really got me in to sailing. Family had a Wayfarer and we used to sail in a Salcombe Yawl as well, and when I was a lot younger, I used to sit there, rather bored, as a passenger. Once I was old enough, a Topper appeared. (Blue hull, blue/yellow/pink sail) and I was in control. I wasn't a passenger any more. I would launch after breakfast, come back for lunch and then go sail again until teatime! Such a fun boat to sail.

And, another...

I never really "got" cricket. But then, a school trip here. Hooked since. Botham was playing and I remember the excited hush as he walked out, the expectation that something was going to happen. Can't remember what he made, though. 😳

So, over to you, folks. Let's see some lovely pics and hear some lovely stories!

Watching these men in the 80s caused a lifelong love of cycling, and now to spend silly money trying to recreate those bikes 😐

This is more about the sudden influx of freeride ski and snowboard videos that landed around the mid 90's. As a teenager I was suddenly aware that skiing didn't need to be confined to the groomed runs and that venturing outside the lines could lead to a greater experience

It also made me aware that sport wasn't just confined to the mainstream sports of rugby football and cricket, and that there was a whole load of other things to do out there instead. I tried a few and mountainbiking stuck 🙂
