My grass needs cutting but mrs zip is going on about No Mow May. I’m assuming that means don’t cut your grass before may either.
The first cut will be June. If I’m going to have a scruffy lawn I’m thinking I may as well grow some meadow flowers on it.
Am I too late to sprinkle seed now and have flowers in June , if too late what should be my strategy for next year?
I know nothing about gardening.

Our meadow flowers are just peeping through. We did a cut a month or so ago (a "spring cut") which was probably a bit early, but we needed to do it then for various reasons. The idea is you cut it short so more light gets to the soil and any seeds there germinate better.

So you may as well give it a go, spring is an OK time to sow. Give it a good cut now (it isn't May yet) sow some seeds and wait, it is also worth scarifying it to get rid of as much thatch as possible, again to expose more bare earth (particularly if you have been using a mulching mower). If the lawn ends up looking a bit manky with bare bits, that is good.

If you are wanting to go meadow long term, sow Yellow Rattle, which is parasitic on grass roots, weakening the grass and allowing more wild flowers. But not if you want a grass type lawn, obviously.

Caravan lawn has been cut twice so far, and lawn at home twice. You may be too late - PS those plants may come back. I don't like a scruffy lawn, but have plants etc in the borders, not my lawn.

My wife is relentless when it comes to lawn mowing, if it doesn't rain for two consecutive days then she is out with the mower, year round.

I've trimmed mine twice already and may do it again this afternoon

No, not cut any grass yet, aiming on cutting even less than last year and that was only paths through to make it appear planned!

I've been mowing since late February, just be sensible on the depth of cut.

Is this the lawn or The Lawn?

I've just given my lawn a scarify and first trim today.
We have areas that are all wildflower or left deep.
