Binged it. Good setup for season 5. I just hope they manage to keep it running to a proper conclusion - I hate it when they drop shows these days without tying up loose ends.

If it gets dropped, then just read the novels to wrap up the story. They’re quite good.

Season 4 of the TV series corresponds very closely to book 4 ‘Cibola Burn’. There’s another four novels and some short stories. So far the tv series has been reasonably faithful to the novels, although a couple of new plot lines have been added for interest and the overall number of characters trimmed a little to avoid confusion I suspect. The authors have been involved in writing the screenplays.

Damn i loved this when on netflix but don't have amazon. Also really want to see Picard. Looks like all the good sci fi is on amazon at the moment!

Myti, if you've not seen the Boys then Amazon is well worth it !

Mr Robot also good, tho not sci-fi

There are many shows I avoid for exactly this reason. I hate investing my time in a series or two to end up with a botched ending (Man in the High Castle?) or none at all (Firefly). I loved S1 of The OA but haven't watched S2 as I heard there will be no S3. The Expanse is one I've not even started but this thread gives me some encouragement.

The Expanse is based on a nine-novel and six(?) novellas-long series, with about a decade of world-building going into the background and overall story arch (originally, it was a MMORPG). Us book readers are waiting impatiently for the final novel due 2020, so as long as Amazon keep paying the story should tie up eventually.

Aye, but that's the problem. If the original spans so many novels, there will be no planned ending if it gets canned after S5. In some ways it would be best if networks could commit to, say, 3 series and the writers used that knowledge in their story arc.

I never read the books but personally I have found the series does kind of end but leads nicely into the next one.

Just commenced Season 4 but not got far through the first episode as the Mrs doesn't do sci-fi. All's looking good so far.

I actually found the book s4 was based on a bit flat, but the series it seems better, even tho it's pretty close to the book.

Stoked for season 5 as the next book of is epic

Agreed, my first thought was "I hope they don't do the slugs bit" but that worked nicely, and bringing Bobbie's story forward a book helped mix it up.
