I've never had the chance.
Get well soon Malcolm.
Been a fan since I was a kid. I was at their last "last" show in Bilbo a few years ago, great spectacle but they couldn't hold it together like they used to. Hope Malcolm comes through.
too late to edit, but another linky. Doesn't look good.
lmFrom that link
AC/DC won't continue playing and recording without Malcolm. It can't be done.
I first heard them from my cousin when I must have been 13. I've got most of their stuff and regret the fact I never went to see them.
That would be a shame, saw them a few years back at the O2, awesome live was buzzing the entire drive back to doncaster at 2 in the morning
🙁
Sad news hope he gets better even if they never play agai, sad to see a hero cut down 🙁
Strangely for an 80s rock nut I have only just really discovered them properly.
It is possible I have wasted the last 20 years of my life.....
A few years ago, Radio Clyde ran a petition to get them to play Glasgow after they'd announced that they wouldn't.
My young bro is a massive fan, and rang round everyone he knew to get them to call in and add their names to the list.
He worked with an older guy called George on the nightshift, and was asking George to sign the petition. George refused.
"How come?" says my bro.
"Cos they're definitely playing!" says George. "Or so my Auntie says to my Mum".
It took a while, but it turned out that George was one of their Scottish cousins, and (of course) it had just been a PR campaign to get maximum turnout. It was an amazing gig, by all accounts. And George was my bro's idol.
Sad news this.

It seems it might not be over yet 🙂
I've been fortunate to see them 10+ times over the years so it's not the end of the world to me if they retire, they've paid their dues many times over. Malcolm has been 'ill' before but they've come through it, he was a lot younger then though!
It's true ... "Malcom Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health"..."the band will continue to make music" ... says thier FB page
Get well soon Malcom
So the show goes 😀 on but without Malcolm 🙁
Newly retired AC/DC guitarist and founder Malcolm Young has called time on his illustrious career due to an ongoing battle with dementia, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
The musician, 61, confirmed his retirement due to an undisclosed illness on Wednesday, just before the release of the infamous group's newest album Rock Or Bust.
A source close to the legend told the Australian newspaper on Friday that Young has been admitted to full time care at a facility in Sydney's Elizabeth Bay that is known for providing specialist treatment to suffers of the degenerative disease.
Instead, Angus and Malcolm Young's nephew Steve Young, will be joining as rhythm guitarist.
The band confirmed they will embark on a world tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary as a band and promote Rock Or Bust, their 15th studio album, at an undisclosed date.
With Young, the band's songwriter of 40 years, departure, brother Angus Young will be taking on wordsmith duties writing future songs.
Due to be released on November 28, Rock Or Bust is and comes six years after the band's hugely successful album Black Ice.
Jeebus. full time care due to dementia at 61. Very sad for anyone.
A source close to the legend...
...not close enough to respect their wishes when they announced his retirement due to an undisclosed illness. That's a bit off imho.
Strong rumours of them headlining Glastonbury next year. Won't be quite the same without him, but at least they are keeping it in the family.
He was replaced for a while due to an illness sometime ago I seem to remember.
I saw them in 1998 - Blow up your video! (What's a video the kids say?!)
I saw them in 1982, Those About To Rock tour, Newcastle City Hall.
And again a couple of years ago on the Black Ice Tour.
🙂
I saw them in 1982, Those About To Rock tour, Apollo Manchester - so loud! Not as painful as Saxon though - that hurt...
I've seen them over a dozen times and they've always been ace. I wouldn't be sad if they packed it in though, they don't owe us anything.
Phil Rudd 😯
From ACDC.Com
We've only become aware of Phil's arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year.
Another one for the Those About To Rock tour, were my fave band at the time.
1st night was an extra gig at the Hammersmith Odeon. That one will stay with me. Got to touch Angus' sweaty back when he appeared on his roadies back up in the circle during an extended song. Top top night.
Followed by Tue & Weds night at Wembley Arena, 2nd & 4th rows from front.
Was pretty much deaf until the weekend.
🙂
I also saw them on the For those about to rock tour,at Hammersmith & the NEC.
They were my favourite band when Bon Scott was lead singer, and I still regret never having the chance to see them with Bon Scott 🙁
I have to say over the last 30 years they've become a parody of themselves. You know within two chords it's a AC/DC song pretty similar to the last one & the one before that etc..
I just wish they had done more stuff similar to Powerage/High Voltage/ Highway to Hell, then again they'd probably need someone who could sing a bit to do that!
I regret that too Busta!
Murder plot charge dropped - should have changed the names to protect the guilty.
Very good 😉
