Muzak made the move after missing a $105m (£74m) payment to creditors.

How in the world did a company making plinky-plonky music get to owe anyone over a $100 million???

Staggeringly

Documents filed with a US bankruptcy court showed that the company had liabilities in the range of $100m to $500m.

A range of $400 M............don't they have an accounts dept !

Muzak were, and no doubt still are, a huge corporation. Their founder was pretty much responsible for the idea that you can increase workers' productivity, or make people more amenable to spending money, by playing them music. I understand that for the past decade or more they have used original versions of songs rather than saxophone-led cheese-fests, but the principle's still the same.
