Apologies to those who were expecting bum shots!

With the nights so short, full on astrophotography isn’t really viable as it doesn’t get truly dark.

So I have been trying to improve my moon shots just using my normal camera and taking multiple frames and stacking them.

This is 190 shots combined and what people often don’t realise is the moon it really quite colourful. I’ve tried to bring this out a bit in this image without over saturating things.

Ohh nice, thanks for sharing.

Also did you take long exposures with a tracker and stack and align?

Or just lots of short exposures as the moon is quite bright?

Nice work, I like how you have captured the rough cratered edges in the south. 😎

That's awesome, thanks for sharing! What kit do you use for something that detailed?

@jairaj - short exposures as the Moon is bright as you say. vary the shutter speed between 1/100 and 1/500 usually to pull out the detail for both the light and shadow.

@bsims and @WillH - thank you. Nothing fancy here a mere 'bridge camera' - the Sony RX10M4 which is possibly the most complete camera system I have ever used (and I used to own a Canon 5D mkIII with plenty of L glass).

Handheld too and using the camera's in-built 'Clear Image' digital zoom to 1200mm FF equiv. This meant JPEG only and perhaps could have got more detail shooting RAW and doing a subtle enlarge in PS later.
