Anyone have links to them?...slow day at work.
I am thinking Picolax thread and the tubeless thread (the guy everyone photoshops onto images now and again).
Any other classics? I may have missed? I am sure there are others.
How about a badger coated with sudocrem... 😀
http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/best-part-of-7-months-off This has quite a few links on it.
Derek Starships safety announcement was a classic.
Mcmoonters - 'let's build a studio' in his garden, is a lovely thread - one of my favourites.
The only thread I've recommended to friends.. laughed myself silly.

In reference to Bearnecessities' recent faux pas, does anyone remember the one a couple of years ago when someone (I have in mind thegreatape, sorry if wrong) took pages of ribbing for an innocent but easily misconstrued "we pass each other regularly on rides but have never spoken, you ride an _____ and generally wear _____, and I think you're smashing. If you read this, maybe we could go for a ride sometime etc etc" type of thread.
I've no idea how to find it, but 'twas funny.
Derek Starships safety announcement was a classic.
Was that the announcement of further terrorist attacks in London, which actually turned out to be a recording of the radio broadcast?
spasmic gherkin - that was geetee1972's thread about 'Dave'.
Aha! That'll be the one
Edit: this one

I took this to be the bar end plug warning 😉
I took this to be the bar end plug warning
That's the one. The reaction of the STWers and dereks response had me howling.
the picolax thread was funny. I also remember a TDF thread where Landis put in an outstanding performance one day and there had been a long thread about it marked as a spoiler. Then someone pipes in after it finished with a new thread that had a spoiler title and folk went mental about it. that was funny too.
kaesae and the postal workers scanning his eyes was quite amusing
the best one for me (i hope i didnt dream it)
a guy bought a new cycle top and took a picture of himself in a mirror, posted the pic and then asked "does this look tight?"....
That was one of the regulars wasn't it monkey_boy? Can't remember who though...
That was one of the regulars wasn't it monkey_boy? Can't remember who though...
im not sure if it was or not but it had to be about 6-7 years ago.
How to deal with asky people, the one where the lad took another lad on a date and the other lad boned his date.
There was another one about someone's child and her 'potty book', which spawned a discussion on toilet habits, at which point someone else mentioned a 'half time wipe' or some such thing.
It was the most screamingly funny thread ever, but I have never been able to find it again, and no one else has ever taken up the challenge. 🙁
About 3 ago, in case anyone is interested.
Anything posted by Mark Datz has got to be up there
This one is a modern classic..

If I'm allowed to plug one of my own, I thought the "Bouncing boobies" thread was most amusing. However, might get a dose of the banhammer these days...

was funniest when you could tag 'surmat = awesome'
Just for completeness, the link to That thread is here:

I miss tags 🙁
The why won't my wife (wifi) work? one
I miss tags
Easy fixed with a Premier Subscription...
Well someone had to...
Easy fixed with a Premier Subscription...
...and here comes the hard sell 🙁
As sells go, that wasn't exactly hard. It was kinda squishy.
How do you get Sudocreme off a cat, for the description about the daughter going off for something, but returning with a cycling helmet and emergency union flag. Genius.
This one really didn't need to run beyond the title and first post for me though.

That's how you do, though, Cougar. You appear all squishy, but in reality you're as hard as iron.
Houns and gym girl was superb. I especially liked the "you should go and work out in a leotard with her face on" thing.
Cheers tthew, that was one of mine 🙂
the wife/wifi one was great, and the stupid headset question obviously. That will keep you entertained for days. No-one mentioned footflaps builders yet? Rate my brickie I think.
anything involving aeroplanes and conveyor belts could be a classic but is probably best avoided.
The reason I asked about the Badger thread in this one ->> http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/anybody-got-an-archive-of-the-badger-thread
/p>
.... was a result of me being introduced to him by someone.
Let's just say the reality lives up to the online persona. And to top it off, he's been banned from attending the annual conference (where I met him) by the organisers - as no-one could stand him....
Ah, the wife/wifi thread: huge fun. I've really enjoyed reading some of these classics. Kaesae' lazor thread was a beaut.
What happened to the one about the bloke who moved abroad with a girl he had just met? IIRC it was to South Africa. She helped him choose cutlery and everything but then it didn't work out. Think it was about new year time
The bum wiping one is hilarious.
Was that the announcement of further terrorist attacks in London, which actually turned out to be a recording of the radio broadcast?
That was Woppit
I also remember someone (postierich?) outing himself as a thief and then having to vigrously defend himself for years ?
The swede's fannybashers thread for me as the all time best. Does anyone have a link - I don't remember when it was?
I remember when this was all fields, far as the eye could see.
The night beer got outed as a troll.
I wish I had links for:
Churchmouse - something to do with a girlfriend or a girl that was fancied?
Houns cruisin' at the gym...
a mouse in a sofa?
TBH I may well be making those up, it's all a blur.
The small rodent trapped in someone's sofa was an absolute gem.
What about the flaming and pitchforks of that lee guy from the classifieds, that had the burning car rolling down a hill with exploding penguins! Also the headset crown race stupid question one was pretty good.
Sadly the Parrot trolling thread has gone as it was old forum. I have never laughed so much in my life and wish I'd kept the subsequent email ticking off from Chipps.
What happened to the singlebrick thread ? Any1 got a link I can't seem to find it
Is the 'remove one letter from the movie title' thread still going?
Answer my own question: http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/think-of-a-film-remove-one-letter-from-the-title-describe-the-film
The one where someone was looking for free graphic design work for a video he'd done. He got shirty when someone pointed out that it was a skill worth paying for. I recall some did do a design for him which involved rainbows flying out of a cyclists backside.
Nearly had an accident reading that one.....
Personal Fav's were
Team (Richie) McCoy - Until everyone found out he actually has AS
47 (I think the ginger one) - Outed by one of the girls for sending cock pictures to her.
Ooh, ooh! I just thought of one - the "Searching for Dave of the Surrey Hills" thread. Classic... I'm sure the poster won't want to be reminded 😀
Sorry mate, found it Anyone recognise this chap (oh man, I've got tears just from reading the tags!)
Has anyone got a link for the tubeless thread? I've only ever seen the photo pop up in the odd thread..
I too would like to read the gym girl thread. 8 years ago that was now! Saw her a few months ago, I had a lucky escape!
Sadly 95% of the best threads were pre hack
Just read a couple of pages of the bum wiping thread, had to stop as I couldn't stiffle the laughter and I'm in work 🙁

That was the sublime work of Mrs. Toast.

Unfortunately, most of the pics have disappeared from the web.
The link to the archived Badger thread is on that Photoshop thread, too.

That was mentioned on the first page. I have just re read it and had tears rolling down my face 🙂Ooh, ooh! I just thought of one - the "Searching for Dave of the Surrey Hills" thread. Classic... I'm sure the poster won't want to be reminded
Houns - gosh can't believe that was 8 years ago, arrrgghh (were you called 'The Money' back then?)
That was mentioned on the first page
Ah yes, silly me 🙁
That Badger thread - how things have changed... can you imagine someone on here these days trying to stop having the pee taken out of them by getting aggressive!
What happened to the singlebrick thread ? Any1 got a link I can't seem to find it
?
Was the gym girl one the one where the bloke wanted to ask someone out and wouldn't? Did we ever get an answer to that, did he didn't he?
.
Also, I can't find the one I was thinking of but this was the resulting pi$$-take http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/dealing-with-a-liar
ah, pre-hack.......

That was a good one. Didn't the 'other forum' get in contact with STW via their legal team or something over that one?
The small rodent trapped in someone's sofa was an absolute gem.
'Dick's shrew'
Must have been years ago.
Family buy Ikea sofa after much wrangling.
small daughter finds comatose shrew and brings it into show dad.
rodent recovers and dives into sofa, but how to remove it?
Was the jist.
Oh, and he had a railway carriage in his garden he was trying to finish painting so he could go riding at the weekend.
I'd forgotten the free video artwork thread, and Mrs. Toast's sublime creations. Thanks for posting that one, mogrim.

No, the owner just squawked to Chipps. I think Brant started it, but I got the blame.
One of my favourites is kaesaes Asda thread
Pity the photos of the decking have gone but it's still funny
Should easily be doable. There are places where you can take in any photo and they put it on a t shirt for you. I have one with a picture of my housemate, she was not amused!
Plus 1for a t shirt! Can we commission Jo burt to do it?
Just imagine if you saw someone else wearing one! You could instantly know they were from STW
Just imagine if anyone else saw you wearing one! They'd instantly assume you were an uphill gardener.
