We have managed to get a few days off over the half-term break in October and have decided to visit London. We'll be driving from Wales so will need to put the car in a sensible, secure place. We'd like to see a show, Book of Mormon sounds like fun. Plus the museums, galleries and the usual stuff.

Has anyone any suggestions of places to stay/ avoid. We did this a couple of years ago and ended up in West Ruislip- never again! Eastern Bloc architecture and facilities, too long travel time from town, crappy breakfast, rubbish bar.

We are not looking for anything special at all, just clean, convenient and 'nice'.

Boardman's Lotus bike is hanging from the ceiling in the reception area of the Science Museum so don't forget to look upwards on your way in.

And remember not to just stop in the middle of the pavement when you're looking at the sights, please 🙂

We're staying in a "hit and hope" guesthouse in Kensington next week, no kids though.

It's a perfect location for museums and getting into the centre. I always stay near Hyde Pk corner, that kind of area, if I can.

A lot of people stay too far out, Watford for example.

Can't help with the "safe" parking, public transport for us.

Also when looking up bear in mind you will change your body`s natural balance and may fall backwards, this is very important because in London if you do this you will be scorned and scowled at regardless of any injuries you may incur.
