Which one is best? Both are about the same driving distance for me.
Fleece - I've always found the sound a bit dodgy.
The Brook - only been once, a long time ago. Any good?
Ta.
The Brook (must have been about 40 times).
Where's the Fleece?
Righto cheers, I'll give it a try then.
The Fleece (& Firkin), Bristol. Classic venue; shit sound. (IME)

It stopped being Fleece & Firkin at least fifteen years ago, when it became a venue rather than a pub with music. Sound isn’t that bad, there are worse sounding venues in London, The Scala being one; it’s wider than it is deep, with a low ceiling and the sound is spectacularly poor!
Anyway, the sound in many venues leaves something to be desired if you stand right at the front, like I do, ‘cos the speakers are right at each end of the stage. There are bands/ artists who place a couple of stage monitors facing outwards to give the vocals more definition and clarity, a very simple solution, but few actually do it.
I like the Fleece, been going there since the early ‘90’s
I've already got my tickets booked for UFO at the Brook in April 🙂
