Boba will ride into town on is horse Bantha next week.
If he sets off next week he might arrive midway through Mando season 3.
The Togrutans like Ahsoka and the lady who ran the gambling plan- those floppy horn things, are the body parts or a head dress?
Asking for a friend?
Didn't he leave the Bantha in the older timeline, he'll be riding the Rancor beast, surely?
I think it helps if you know the lore, I’m far from full on fanboy so some are new to me. Not sure it deters much from it though.
Yeah I suppose I'm trying to say there are moments where characters appear and the camera lingers for us to go "ooh look, it's them out of thingybob" - but it feels a bit jarring if you don't know who they are.
I was always a bit "less is more" with Star Wars, all the expanded backstory stuff spoils the mystique a bit IMO.
I think the appearance of Cad Bane is a bit sudden right near the very end of the series, I understand why they didn't just outright show him earlier ( it was maybe him that took out the Tuskens?) and they have not positioned the Pyke Syndicate as that threatening for those who have not seen the Clone Wars etc. Now the Syndicate is being shown to have merciless figures working for it but we get to see all of this in only 1 episode. Pacing has been very poor for the first few episodes.
Dave Filoni (Clone Wars and Rebels showrunner type person) always wanted Boba Fett and Cad Bane to have a fight at the end of the Clone Wars but they didn't get to make them, so the appearance of Cad Bane has his name written all over it to finally get his wish.
I think there will be a series with Luke and his students with a Young Ben (Kylo Ren) in it, the work they put into Luke in this episode and setting up his school feels like it's world building for a future series.
I really liked the episode, Timothy Olyphant is great in it. I think his character is still alive based upon the camera showing his deputy quite clearly dead and the other townsfolk rushing around the Marshall to help him. I still don't like the lack of Boba Fett though, although he will no doubt be front and centre in the finale. I get what they are doing, setting up Mandalorian S3, Ahsoka series, maybe Luke series and have more interconnectivity between them (MCU style). This will no doubt have caused disagreements internally at Lucasfilm, but fan service and nostalgia does get people to watch stuff, as well as, hey look it's that character from the cartoon/other series/movie etc
Next weeks episode is the last, it's going to have to be about 4 hours long to tie up even half of this

Star Wars Brogue One.
FIFY
You didn’t I’m just trying not to spoil it for others, not a bantha anyway.

Or maybe they may do another series. Look how it took Mando to deliver Grogu.

It’s an old username but it checks out sir
Really enjoying seeing all these elements together on screen from the past couple of episodes...
However imagine being Temuera Morrison & hearing you're getting your own series, 7 episodes, to find out 1/2 of the first 4 you're in fever dream & then in 5 & 6 you barely make a cameo appearance & the world is way more excited about the new shiny Boba rocking up in your show.

I cant wait for next mando season and hopefully seeing baby yoda in chainmail sitting in the droid port of the pimped naboo fighter.
Has anyone else noticed it's a bit like a western? Just the odd subtle bit, here and there.

Subtle? Was the Cobb Vanth + his plucky deputy Vs Cad Bane part not full on western enough? 😁
Westerns are a huge influence for both the Mandalorian and Boba Fett, I don't think they're trying to hide that.

Was a bit crouching Tiger with Luke as well
Didn't think it was as good this week.
In fact to be blunt(i know, totally unlike me) I'm finding the entire series a bit of a bore. Although the mandalorian episode was a huge improvement.Feels like this is an intro into mandalorian season 3.
Problem is it's all so predictable.
It is predictable and much of the plot seems (poor) dialogue led. 🙁

It's a kids TV series, what do you expect. Although I agree the first few episodes and the current time plot for Bob's Fett is poor.
Was great to see Cad Bane, I thought it might have been Embo to start with. Was also good to see Ashoka meet Luke, brings a nice bit of closure. Now all we need is a post credit scene with Ezra on some far flung planet!!

It was basically shot using the standard 'High Noon' format and angles.
Can I also say I am over CrotchCam in the Starfighter.

It's family TV, but the primary intended audience will be grown-ups IMO.
See the "middle-aged babies" comment yesterday.
Another episode of nothing happening... Massively disappointed in this so far...
Was a bit crouching Tiger with Luke as well
I thought it was more Return of the Jedi.

A shoot is a shoot out.
The gunfight sequence and the whole Freetown vibe did feel a little (OK, very) contrived, to me.
The series feels less tonally coherent than The Mandalorian, and more of a collection of classic movie trope pastiches (e.g. train fight, training montage, gunfight showdown).
Still like it though.
I am a little disappointed that the Luke-Grogu stuff seems to be retreading the whole "the Jedi Order demands emotional isolation from its members" thing. It feels like it's been explored enough now and of all people Luke who gained a lot of strength from emotional bonds (to Leia, to Han and even to his father) should be able to see that it causes more problems than it solves. I suppose it is considered necessary to set up the eventual downfall of Luke's Jedi academy but it feels unnecessary to see it explored again.
I generally liked all the bits with Mando in the past two episodes, I think I am more excited to see more from him than I am to see how Boba Fett's story turns out.
As I have watched some of the Star Wars animations (I really liked Rebels and have seen some of the Clone Wars) and have a passing acquaintance with the old expanded universe I am partially picking up on the cameos in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. I'm pretty ambivalent about them, sometimes they bring the wider Star Wars galaxy into the stories in an interesting manner but sometimes it feels more like the creators going "hey look, it's X! Isn't it great to see X here!" rather than it feeling like they are there for story reasons. It feels a bit like this sort of prompt at times:
![Hey kids! It's Mark Hamill! [Applause]](https://nerdreactor.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/hey_kids_its_mark_hamill-800x348.png)

I agree "your faith in your friends is your weakness" actually you wrinkly old **** its his strength.
Timothy Olyphant is great in it. I think his character is still alive
Vanth is too good a character to kill off yet.

Like I say Cad Bane give a big hint.
I suppose it is considered necessary to set up the eventual downfall of Luke’s Jedi academy but it feels unnecessary to see it explored again
This is the problem for me .When Luke turned up at the end of season 2 I absolutely loved it as but i assumed it was a one time thing and maybe that would of been best .
I’m finally caught up (after weeks of not being able to get all the family together to watch it due to Covid)… so can read this thread! Which I will do later… I’ll just say in advance that I’m liking all the silly aside bits, not just the story driven bits.
Yeah, for all the justified criticism about erratic pacing, fan service and the Marvel-isation of Star Wars - I still look forward to it each week.
Because of enjoying the Mandalorian, I've recently been watching the kiddy "cartoons" (The Bad Batch and now Rebels), so I'm enjoying the crossovers. And this series turning into the much predicted "The Mandalorain series 2.5" is absolutely fine with me.
Rebels is very good imo, bad batch is a bit mleh. I have a soft spot for the clones wars series, used to watch one every day after school with my son, some of it is awesome.
Finale was worth the wait. There is a post credit scene

for once I watched all the art work at the end and was glad I did. The first one that came up had a easter egg in it, either that or my eyesight is getting worse
That was ace.
Enjoyed that, still don't much like the mods but it was good
Bit of Butch and sundance, bit of once upon a time in the west and a bit of magnificent 7 this week!!
Meh, should’ve contained about 100% more crime and criminal activity. The Mando episodes were the best thing about it. Boba was better as a mysterious, faceless bounty hunter. This basically turned him in to a likeable old fella

I agree with this. But I also agree it was a decent final episode in terms of action. Just a few observations...
- I really wish the mod gang had all been wiped out by the ED209 things
- There was some shockingly wooden acting
- And some clunky exposition via dialogue all round
- Was there a weird cut when Boba got the better of Cad Bane?
- Why didn't he fire one of his knee rockets instead of stabbing him with the Tusken stick?
And was it on this thread I said Boba would arrive go into battle riding the rancor at a pivotal moment?
Was ok. Nothing amazing.
Now, Mando S3. When is that out? *Tap tap tap.
I kept watching it thinking I'm too old for it. I'm in my 40's. This seems like its made for teenagers or something, with some nostalgia thrown in for the oldies like me.
When is Better Call Saul starting??
Why didn’t he fire one of his knee rockets instead of stabbing him with the Tusken stick?
Why didn’t he use his flame thrower, why didn’t he jet pack out the way, why didn’t he fire rockets from his wrist and why didn’t the others shoot Cad? Well because they were trying to prove who was the best and it would have been unsporting.
I liked it , not as much as the 2 mandalorian series but still pretty good and my boy thought the final episode was brilliant. Only disappointment yesterday was I was hoping for a post credits obi wan trailer .
Only disappointment yesterday was I was hoping for a post credits obi wan trailer .
They're completely different timelines, after credits scenes generally have some connection with the main show.
Revenge of the sith - 10 years - Obi wan Kenobi - 9 years - a new hope - 9 years - Mandalorian/Boba Fett
So there's 18 odd years between Obi wan Kenobi and Mandalorian/Boba Fett.
Why didn’t he use his flame thrower, why didn’t he jet pack out the way, why didn’t he fire rockets from his wrist and why didn’t the others shoot Cad? Well because they were trying to prove who was the best and it would have been unsporting.
Yes, I was just using one example to make the point that it seemed out of character for Boba, and jarring that these ruthless bounty hunters were suddenly behaving like they were in an old-school western.
I think there's a consensus emerging that the show was fun but flawed.

Something like this?
I think there’s a consensus emerging that the show was fun but flawed.
I saw it as more of an extended subplot of Mandalorian. It's setting up other stuff that will link into Mando 3 and further down the line. What the armourer said, what Boba Fett's emblem is and post credit scene shows how he will leave Tatooine to fulfill the prophecy. I'm connecting dots so could be wildly wrong
Agree on an enjoyable enough episode but some badly acted parts and sequences that were poor. Would have preferred the littlun not turn up but obviously he was instrumental in controlling the rancor. I suspect Boba won't be on Tatooine for long and maybe Cobb Vanth will be the Mos Espa "leader" once he has healed/been modified.

Yep I think both Shand and Bobs will end up returning the favour for Mando. The bit when they are strolling through town and say if not us then who and then it cuts to Vanth in the bacta tank is telling I reckon

At the risk of being cast into the Cracks of Doom by middle aged nostalgic Star Wars fans the world over, doesn't that apply to all of it?
Overall I think that The Book of Boba Fett was a bit of a mess. It was a fun mess at times but overall the pacing and its lack of faith in its own story were quite big problems. While the finale clipped along at a fair old pace the latter of these issues was definitely evident to me. It felt telling that the final scene in the show involved only Mando and Grogu, presumably flying off towards The Mandalorian season 3, and the post credits bit featured a character who was connected to Mando but had not ever met Boba.
The weakness of the show when it comes to being its own story was also evident with Boba's own big showdown with Cad Bane. From the point of view of someone not familiar with their history in the Clone Wars show (I personally am only vaguely aware of it) Cad Bane is a character that only shows up at the end of episode 6 and guns down a couple of people that Boba Fett doesn't know. He then taunts Boba a little bit in episode 7 before they have a showdown towards the end of the episode. This is supposed to represent Boba's big pay-off and victory but it pales in comparison to what Mando, the Mods, the Freetowners and others are up to. It only gains significance in the context of the wider Star Wars canon. That's kind of rubbish.
I thought that there was a lot of fun amongst the mess of episode 7 but then again I was also able to enjoy the Rise of Skywalker for similar reasons, in that it produced lots of nice moments and moved at a decent pace, despite its plot problems. The Mando stuff continued to be pretty good, even if I am annoyed that Luke is retreading the mistakes of the Jedi when it seems out of character and is plainly a plot that has been done before.
Also for some reason I am particularly annoyed that when Boba ran off to get Checkov's Rancor he didn't pick up Slave I instead. A fast, heavily armed and armoured gunship whose arsenal includes shield defeating ion cannons would have been quite handy against those droids. I know that there's little point in picking out possible plot holes like this in a show like The Book of Boba Fett, but for me that's the one that is stuck in my mind!
I was waiting for grogu to arrive in the x-wing doing a strafing run 🤣
That's a fair analysis ChrisL - I agree with everything you say, apart from enjoying Rise of Skywalker.
At the risk of being cast into the Cracks of Doom by middle aged nostalgic Star Wars fans the world over, doesn’t that apply to all of it?
Absolutely along with shit acting.
I really wish the mod gang had all been wiped out by the ED209 things
That would’ve redeemed the whole series. The vespeeders looked so shit and even the colours didn’t gel with the rest of the palette for the show.
I was awaiting a very slow chase involving the walking pace space Vespas and the ridicolously slow battle droids. Also was the battle droids targeting software programmed by an ex stormtrooper as they really couldn't hit a large group of slow moving people running away from them in a straight line?
The vespeeders looked so shit and even the colours didn’t gel with the rest of the palette for the show.
Exactly, it was an appalling design decision to include them. They looked like they'd escaped from a Twilight movie. Or maybe modern Doctor Who (with matching acting standards).
I think they got their good guy kill quota earlier and in the previous episode which is why those big droids didn't hit anything 😀
Not sure how Kryzinstan or however you spell the wookiee's name survived, he had a ton of those Bossk like people get him on the ground and supposedly they are very strong, he then gets shot left, right and centre and walloped by the droid. Talking of Bossk, I assumed he and maybe some of other bounty hunter cohorts would turn up, maybe something for later. Speaking of which, when Cad Bane first spoke to Boba, did Boba say you got my message?
Also was the battle droids targeting software programmed by an ex stormtrooper as they really couldn’t hit a large group of slow moving people running away from them in a straight line
Also, it couldn't even shoot through a wattle and daub wall.
If I was to sum the series up in a word, disappointment.
Fella goes from being the most badass bounty hunter in the galaxy to a likeable old fella looking for a quiet retirement as a crime lord. Didn't really work for me.
Plus there was so much crap in the storyline, especially last night as it stuck in my memory. Freetown people and the mods (why couldn't they all have died?) hiding behind a wall whilst a huge killer droid was 30ft away hammering the wall with its 4 guns and making the same kind of impact as if I'd thrown an apple at it? And then why, the the rancor is fighting the droid, do all the goofs hiding behind the wall just stand and look gormless. Shoot the fkng thing you idiots!
Plus the crime syndicate takeover of an entire planet seemed to revolve around about 20 pykes and the odd warlord.
They really threw the kitchen sink at the finale, eh? There was far too much squeezed in.
Would it be fair to say it was too Marvel-ish, in a bad way?
Fella goes from being the most badass bounty hunter in the galaxy to a likeable old fella looking for a quiet retirement as a crime lord
More Boba Job than Boba Fett.
I was convinced one of the crime family leaders was Johnny Knoxville but he was not in the credits.
My son used to refer to him as Bob the vet so that’s a second career for him.
– Why didn’t he fire one of his knee rockets instead of stabbing him with the Tusken stick?
Did you miss all the training with the people who helped make him a new man? One with a sense of belonging and connection to others? And one with a whole new way of fighting. It was the new Boba, the one Cad Bane didn’t know.
He also got to use his badass mad eyes wide open face when he swung the gaffi stick to prove he was still badass despite going soft.

Yep it was an awful series. A massive disappointment after The Mandalorian series. The story was a mess, the SFX worse than the A New Hope and as for those mods, just wtf? Truly truly terrible.
Not very good at all.
It mostly felt like they couldn't be arsed to write it, so just assembled it from the rejected script bin, "we'll get away with it because Star Wars".
^^^that review was better than the show.
Not very good at all.
It mostly felt like they couldn’t be arsed to write it, so just assembled it from the rejected script bin, “we’ll get away with it because Star Wars”.
Yep, that pretty much sums it up!
Who would have thought that Boba Fett could have been turned into such a dull character?
Pretty disappointing season. A lot of it just wasn't very well done - e.g. the mod scooter/speeder chase was really slow and boring. I wasn't that annoyed by the mods themselves though. It picked up when the Mandalorian appeared, but then it just made me wonder why they had done a Boba Fett season at all?
I still miss it on a Weds eve though.
😀
Going against the trend here but I thought it was better than the Mando (which I also enjoyed). Boba was deeper slower moving story, where as mando was 'this week mando shots these people".
I enjoyed it as well... of the three parts to it, I enjoyed the "how did Fett become this man" thread as an involving slow motion sequel to the original series, the "Mando series 2.5" was an exciting further step towards what new TV Star Wars is becoming, and only the "There's a new boss in town" stuff was a bit stilted and lacking in story lines and dialogue.
Anyone watching Raised By Wolves?? It's a lot better than this nonsense!
