I have an old packamac with taped seams which are now beginning to peel off in places. I have tried gluing the offending portions down with a general purpose adhesive but they don't appear to stay stuck for too long. I'm considering either trying another glue, ironing the tapes back with a warm iron, or maybe replacing them with a different type of tape (insulation tape perhaps?) If all else fails I may resort to peeling off all of the tape and waterproofing the seams with seam sealer, or the old candle wax rubbed into the stitching method.

Any advice is welcome.

If you use seam sealer use much less than you might think. In my experience a thick layer peels and cracks, thinner and rubbed in works better.

Seam grip, there is a hidden clue in the name.

Available from any outdoor type shop.
