Unfortunately I'm on holiday, but wow, what a lineup!

Just saw this on social media. Screw the Oasis hype, *this* is the gig to be at this summer.

I fully acknowledge that it's a massive nostalgia trip but screw it, I'm in. Got my resident ticket-ninja on the case.

I thought it was their last one I went to 1998ish.

Ooh Anthrax, missed them play many a time.
Last time was when I bagged a last minute  pass For Sonisphere, or Download (can’t remember which), just missed them.
Probably 1990 ish when I actually saw them.

I’ve not seen Hale Storm, or Lamb of God, (that I remember).

This, this is the gig of the year, a magnificent line-up. I shall be doing all I can to get tickets.

He's well into Lamb of God, Gojira (we saw them at Ali Pali) etc..

Will have a chat to him about it!

I went to their Birmingham show in 1999 and that was billed as the final time they’d all play together.

Frankly, I wouldn’t have expected any of them to be alive 25 years later!

FFS - do you think the wife would mind if we cancelled our holiday!!!!?

Not that there's much chance of getting tickets - this will be in massive global demand.

Well, that's going to be expensive.

I’ve not seen Hale Storm

I first discovered Halestorm at Donington Download. Walking randomly past a tent and we went "who the hell is that?!" They are exceptional, recommended.

This looks amazing, though Lamb of God are one of the very few bands I've walked out of (when they supported Dio's "Heaven and Hell" line up just before he died.)

I also did the "last" gig thing around 99. I cannot imagine the 25 years since have been good to them.

Just found this from my last (of three) Sabbath gigs.

PXL_20250205_164259359.MP

Can't believe it was nearly 12 years ago. Ozzy was already leaving the stage every 5 minutes to huff on an oxygen tank and Bill was at home having multiple heart attacks. I remember thinking nearly £60 was a bit steep but live events used to be cheap. I think this one will be astronomical.

I've already seen Pantera and Slayer when they were still active and before all the cool members were dead.

I think I'll be fine to let this one slide.

Ozzy didn't know where he was last time I saw him play and that was 20 years ago... but still, what a lineup.

Would love to go, but I'm guessing the tickets are going to be somewhat pricey.

I like a fair bit of Metal, but honestly, I’m not interested enough to spend the money. I saw Sabbath on the Volume 4 tour, when they were worth seeing, I saw Metallica three or four times around the ‘80’s-90’s, Anthrax about the same time, Gojira and Mastodon are the only two I’m interested in. I’m seeing Opeth next month, and Wardrunna a week or two later, much more interesting to me.

It's an awesome line up, if I hadn't already got 4 festivals lined up and at least half a dozen gigs I'd be trying for tickets. 🤘🏻

Thought this was about Alexisonfire replaying Brixton in July, last one there was epic, hoping for another good night.

I'm going to try for a ticket. Already booked a JustPark space, although expecting it to be cancelled and relisted at a premium closer to the date.

Was in the waiting room 30 minutes before o2 presale, got in the queue with 12000 people in front of me. Not a chance, only the £3000 side of the stage tickets left. Will try again tomorrow.

Yeah, trying again tomorrow. The £3k tickets are watching from the side of the stage, so reassuringly expensive.

Similar story to the above. I joined the pre-queue for the pre-sale queue at 9.30, at 10am (when I joined the queue from the pre-queue) there were 11,000 people in front of me. I got to the front of the queue at 10.30am and they only had a very limited few random seats dotted about in a seating area and they were over £600 each. I love Sabbath (I saw them at the Birmingham o2 Academy when they did a warm-up ready for the 'The End' arena tour, then saw them again in Birmingham on the second-last night) but there's no way I could justify spending that much.

And I was planning on buying tickets for three of us but noticed that they have a two tickets per household maximum! I'm kinda glad I didn't get the tickets I wanted as that would have been a difficult decision to make...

That will be a very nice day. I saw a few of those bands at , I think 'Ozzys bug day out'. The one band on that list I would like to see is Alice in chains. However, the good news for me is  my buddy  got us tickets to see Bad Religion in Barcelona in May. F.ights, accommodation a d tickets for £160!

In all fairness you could probly have just as good a time pitching up in Aston Manor grounds next door with a picnic and your own beer/drugs. You'd still hear it fine

I tried that once when Michael Jackson played at Roundhay Park in Leeds It was *NOT* the same and I have remained forever annoyed at myself for not paying to see him.

I thought this was going to be about 1000 Mods playing Glasgow on Tuesday night, I don't think the adrenaline has quite worn off yet, am trying to bring myself down gently with some psychedelic trance this morning 🤣

Ditto! I was only a casual fan having discovered Vidage on YouTube and listened to first couple of albums in the week before the gig, but now I'm full on fanboi, was actually wondering if I was going to get to sleep last night as had Electric Carve running round and round my head 🤣

I was 28592 in the queue this morning.Managed to get to the ticket page but there was one ticket left right in the corner for £312. It looked to have a partially blocked view of the stage.

I could get tickets for the golden circle right in front of the stage but they were close to £2500 each.

Sadly too rich for me.

I hate the fact that this is a thing, especially from a band with such working-class roots. The people who get to the front should be the ones who camp out for 24 hours before the gates open, not the ones with deep pockets.

Imagine being the band - all the actual fans near the back, & a bunch of bored looking rich folks hanging about at the front of the gig.

Live music will eat itself if carries on pricing big gigs like this.

Donnington Monsters of Rock 1991, AC/DC headlining after Metallica, highlights - Harvester of sorrow in the mosh pit, and Thunderstruck, this one:

it was wild, good times

I was never a fan of AC/DC, and after their absolutely ludicrous prima donna behaviour at Donington in 2010 that's unlikely to change anytime soon.

Yeah, it's all getting a bit Roy Keane 'prawn sandwiches' isn't it.

There's actually an interesting youtube vid about ticket pricing and how no matter what price they charge they still sell out so if there is money to be made then why shouldn't that be the selling price?

Its not something I entirely agree with but it does have a point.

I have more of an issue with multi millionaires flying all over the world in their private jets living the good life that the vast majority will never experience and then they say you are the one that should be funding the charity donations.

Doubt it. This is live music for people who don't really like gigs. Big event, big names well past their best, overpriced beer, but at least the toilets are acceptable.

16 minutes to sell out....

At least it took over 50 years for the rest of the band to sell out....

Couldn't agree more. Even when I was a kid in the 70s, people who like this stuff were old and out of touch 😀
