We did the beer bike thing on a stag do a few years ago. It was a good laugh, and the guy taking it made a lot of effort to guide us on where to keep the noise down and be decent. We were.
But I can fully understand how noisy / rowdy groups could annoy the locals. The group ahead of us were that, and got chucked off for snorting lines off the table as it went along.
