Yeah don't worry about any spoilers there's no plot.

Shame as I like the director and two main protagonist's. Not really seeing where the glowing reviews are coming from tbh.

Ill have In Bruges instead ta.

I enjoyed it but found it quite a hard watch in places.

Overall I also would prefer to watch In Bruges or The Guard.

It's easier to comprehend/apriciate if you have had any experience of small isolated communities.
I thought it was very well done ,but it's not a fun night out at the movies 😀

I really enjoyed it and I'm not one generally for slow movies. Not a relaxing watch though but beautifully shot.

I loved it.

Funny, moving and stunning to look at. Fantastic performances from all the lead characters.

A film that leaves you thinking and one I'd have happily watched again the night after my first viewing.

Friendship, the passage and preciousness of time. Also, mental illness? I enjoyed this black comedy. As did most of the audience whose average age was about sixty.

Loved it. Not quite up there with Three Billboards... but a very funny and very poignant film.

btw - The Guard and Calvary are made by a different director (Martin McDonagh's brother.) đŸ˜‰

Should have read the reviews before going, went expecting In Bruges II, it's definitely not.
I still thought it was very good, but the Mrs described as the most depressing film she's seen in a good while.

@desperatebicycle

made by a different director

Don't think we hadn't thunk that.😉

I wasn't expecting 3 Billboards or even In Bruges. There's no argument about the cinematography or the calibre of the nuanced performance's.

It was just a bit bland.

Maybe you should have gone to the latest DC comics offering instead?

I had the most annoying senile old moron couple sat near me during the film, and still managed to enjoy it and stay engrossed. That says something! I mean, have you ever ever heard someone do that loud EOOOOAH! YAWN noise during a film at the cinema?? 3 ****ing times the woman did that! ...In amongst the dopey nattering and live commentary to each other. Stupid old ****s.

Went to see it last night, loved it.

I like films where Mrs Tyred asks me what I thought it was about once we're outside.

Brexit, surely?

It’s a film which is funny but is very sad. Excellent. A proper film.

Went to see it this evening. Wasn't quite sure what to expect, I knew it would be a bit more sombre than In Bruges, but not quite so sombre in places!

That said... A very good, thought provoking film. I spent most of the first 30mins chuckling to myself at all the little idiosyncracies that it shared with In Bruges (HUGE fan of that film), before it then took a very dark and unexpected turn...

I'd say that having grown up in a pretty small community, having had experiences of friendships suddenly turning sour and for no obvious reason, it all felt quite close to home to be honest. Even more so with the obvious (yet glossed over, primarily I guess because it was set 99yrs ago) mental health issues suffered by both lead protagonists. Also, having spent many nights in the pub sat listening to my mate drone on incessantly for hours (before so much as asking me how I am incidentally) about DIY, his kids bowel movements, his problems at work (that are all problems of his own creation) and many other things I have absolutely no interest in whatsoever, I can more than relate! I'm certain I've even made some off hand threats in the past to get him to stop talking about them ad infinitum too! 😂
