Bilberry/fruits of the moor icecream a couple of weeks ago, then raspberry sorbet a few days later.
Harvesting in my dad's garden yesterday - 2 types of plum, greengages, mulberries, french beans, tomatoes.
First batch of plum jam made this afternoon, and another one to come tomorrow; he's having a crack at greengage jam because he's bored of eating them, and might get someone t make mulberry sorbet in exchange for a share of it, or might just eat the mulberries.
Still kilos of tomatoes to come, and I'm planning a blackberrying session soon...

I've been picking blackberries the past 3 weeks, will go out on Saturday for what I expect will be the last lot before they all turn to mush.

It also amazes me that there are a number of people that wouldn't even consider picking this fruit, let alone eat it and would rather go to Tescos....

We have a plum tree like ^ that one.
It's a mast year (again) for lots of things.
The chanterelles are a bit slow this year though.

Any suggestions as to where I could get green (ie unripe, not fancy) tomatoes near Sheffield? Family and friends get through industrial quantities of green tomato chutney, and I'd like to make more than usual this year, if I can get hold of the main ingredient...

Last house had a plum - so jam and pickles then, now alfresco sloe gin (*top tip - add to Hagen Daz vanilla for a pud), blackberry whisky - mmm?? - won't be doing again - but might try with a spare vodka we have, and the damson in the new garden requires some research on options.

Brambles - mmm, bramble cranachan

whizz up some brambles with a splash of whisky
whisk up some cream with a drop of honey and some toasted pinhead oatmeal
fold the the cream stuff into the bramble stuff
decorate with some more toasted oatmeal and a juicy bramble

Brambles everywhere around here have just become ripe, and a short walk on sunday took a long time when we stopped to collect a few.

Not got much time for scrumping, sadly.
