I suppose lbw not playing a shot is marginally better than bowled not playing a shot

Five-fer for Stokes!

I'm liking the way that this has been a team effort in this series so far. Different guys stepping up in each innings.

Magical stuff 8)

EDIT: Who forgot to credit the key for the leccy?

Has anyone seen the fat lady yet? As I've been away in sunny Darwin all week, MrsZ has little time for me making her watch this, despite the score 🙁

Nice touch from Cook to grab the stumps and give them to key players. Classy!

Australian downfall and capitulation due to too many ego's and too many moobs.

England team in comparison look lean, fit and a team.

No need to write or pontificate anymore, apart from WE WON! 8)

Fair play Pup. I've never been a fan, his attitude at times has been too egotistical and he isn't a great team man, but as a player he's been one of the best and it's sad to see good players in decline.

Hope you get a few at the Oval. Only a few though......

[s]Poor sod. As much as I hated him for his attitude in the last two series, losing his best mate Phil Hughes to that freak bouncer at the SCG has very much changed him as a man. That and the obvious pain from his chronic back injury was only ever going to result in one conclusion after this series.[/s]

EDIT. Yeah, maybe I've had too many celebratory beers already 😳

Thought you wrote Clarke!

A lot of respect for Clark after the summer down here, however this seems like a series too far and that goes for a few. With the need to replace Rogers and voges it could be an interesting time for the team.

Well done to England though coming back from Lords and putting in some dominant almost Australian performances, need to work on finishing them off a bit more.

northants had them 170ish for 8 earlier in the week, the last 3 put on about 150 to save there blushes. So top order confidence is not great 🙂

So, Clarke gone, and Aussie commentating worse than ever:

"Oh, he was DRSed out there, that was the tiniest of 'frequencies', I didn't hear anything"

No, he was given out by the on-field umpire with a very audible snick, and he refused to walk 😆

No TMS in Oz due to 'rights', and I'm travelling with a work laptop so not that advisable to change their security and network settings to make it look like it's in the UK.

Who TF wins the toss and bowls in a Test Match? And at the Oval of all places?

Cook's got to go, surely!

And unless I'm not finding the right one, sadly oz is one of the countries where it won't work.

ABC Grandstand is broadcasting the TMS feed except for lunch/ta break and local news bulletins. Available on local MW radio or online. On Friday nights it is usually footy on the radio but they still broadcast the cricket online.

I'd like to apologise, yesterday I had to change the backup tapes before play to complete a restore so their juju was unavailable during play. 🙂

Couple of wickets before lunch, so long as England hold their end up with the bat I'm happy to follow a proper 5 dayer.

Just found the abc stream. It's more than a ball behind the TV! About as much use as one of the Marsh brothers with a bat...

Guess I'll have to listen to fatso and moron instead then. Harrumph.

Zokes I always used to listen to ABC (broadcast) radio in Australia while watching the TV and the synchronisation was generally good.

That's digital progress for you I guess! Channel 4 and R4lw always used to be close, then digital screwed it all up.

On a lighter note.... That's how you use DRS 😀

His time may come again, but he won't be touring this winter. Hales has good timing (and not just of bat on ball), though presumably he'll also be getting his chance to impress in an England shirt before selections are made.

Good second knock from Cook shame his biggest innings have been in defeat this series.

It's been exciting at times, but in general what a poor series. When 2 sides outclass each other, and then a week later, the other way round, that can only be incompetence on one side or the other. As I said when broad got his 8-fer, good bowling but the Aussies didn't put up a fight much.

I'm more worried than ever for test cricket. A few aside no-one's got the patience to bat in test cricket any more. T-20 might fill grounds and get TV money, but it's like closing a Michelin starred restaurant so you can open a burger king in its place.

Maybe that's him showing his class that he saves his best performances for when backs are against the wall.

If they came in games where it was possible to turn it around I'd be inclined to agree but it might be that as the result isn't in doubt he doesn't feel pressure to perform so relaxes and just gets on with it.

Could well be a draw now. Hope not - Aussies have clearly been the better team in this game and should really win it...and they would without rain.

I wished for rain for a while, but then realised that I'd rather it was over and done with, the Aussies deserved to win this game (I'd not even begrudge Clarke a win to go out with) and 3/2 is a realistic score line for the series. So glad it cleared up enough to finish off.

Yeah, and the bonus is if home teams continue to win England will now get to hold the Ashes for longer with the rescheduling (the trip to Australia used to be 18 months after the series in England, now it's 2.5 years).
