Emporors pancakes
Separate the eggs when you make the batter and whip the whites and fold them in to get thick airy pancakes. As you cook them layer them up with lemon and sugar in between until you have a nice tall stack. Then cut that stack like a cake.

Ham and mayonnaise for me.

Hmmm I'll be trying that - my faves are

Bacon pancakes with sweet chili, parmasan and pepper

The fried breakfast Pancake - Bacon pancakes wrapping cubes of black pudding and sausage.

Banana with yogurt, or banana with golden syrup

Whiskey pancakes wrapping haggis.

with fruit I go down the drop scone route. lemon rind and currents ftw.

Bacon + Maple Syrup.

And a Sugar + Lemon one for afters.

Actually variations on this theme.. found some no-sugar syrup, and the lemon one will be, well, just lemon. 😐

american style with maple syrup and banana

Got one of these electric griddle things last week, which is fantastic for cooking american style pancakes - means you can cook three at a time which stops the kids getting too restless. Next it's going to get tested making a massive fry up. And bargain cheap as well

I mixed a little drinking chocolate powder into the batter on saturday morning. Then spread nutella on top for a double chocolate nomness.

My little girl and the wife like them. But I'm a lots of lemon and a tiny tiny bit of sugar guy.

No worries, I was taking the piss out of myself with the caveman piccy.
🙂

EDIT:
On a more serious note. I don't think you need a paleo/iDave diet compatible recipe.

As per the title, is once a year. Fill yer boots.
😉

Always HAD to be lemon and sugar when I was a kid. My partner is traditional and has it that way still, I'm a philistine peasant rebel oik and prefer maple syrup and Cornish ice cream.

when I was a kid syrup, now it's lemon and sugar.

Or nutella, chopped banana, rolled up and dusted with icing sugar if I'm going to whole hog 🙂

Ham, cheese and some softened onions are great for savoury. Otherwise, peanut butter and nutella or lemon and sugar with sultanas.
