We've decided to stay in UK - I was hoping for either Canada (cancelled at great cost this year) or some bike riding on road and off somewhere in Europe, possibly Dolomites.
However I just don't want to risk things not being back to 'normal'.
So we've already booked a week on Harris & Lewis and a week in Torridon, bikes and boots with us, natch. Amazing how much accommodation was booked already...
What's your take on things and plans?
We moved this years trip to Lake Garda and the Italian Alps in July on for 12 months rather than just cancel it.
Don't think it will go ahead but not going to cancel it yet.
Other than that it will be away somewhere in the UK with the camper.
Hebridean Way for one trip as not been out that way for 10+ years. Some routes planned round Lake District. Not holding out much hope for foreign jollys. Lots of weekends away in van if the country is open.
Same, no international travel other than maybe work for us.
Got a cottage boooked for Easter and hoping to try a camper during the summer then maybe buy one
Moved our family holiday to tenerife this summer to next August. I don't particularly want to fly anywhere in 2021 though, we'll see how it all pans out again i guess.
Also lads and dads week in Morzine was cancelled this summer. Not sure we'll do it in 2021 but will probably head to Wales and Scotland instead for some long weekends.
I want to go back and do the mega, but again, I'm thinking 2022 now as opposed to 2021 🙁 missed it so much this year, a week of planned bike chaos, I love it.
Got a booking for ST6 in September and flights to Canada carried over, BC would be great - will it happen, who knows.
Hopefully will get to spend more time at our place in Kerry next year, I really miss that.
I’m just hoping Blackpool stays out of Tier 3
Fingers crossed
Norfolk last year. Northumberland I think next. International travel in 2022. Conferences will be virtual again next year. I should have been in Denver a week ago.
I’m just hoping Blackpool stays out of Tier 3
Is that for STI's or Covid?
Blackpool is introducing a 3 Pier system
We head to France every summer via tunnel, got 3 weeks holiday booked for end July, if we are allowed and all is well we will go, went this this year and although a bit quieter was good. I prefer quiet locations so was quite easy to distance etc and I'd be happy to do that again next year if I had to.
I'm hoping for Tenerife or Gran Canaria cycling next October. I reckon it's being overly optimistic to think Majorca in April will be a goer.
Although even if we don't have to worry about covid, I suspect that holiday prices will be silly money once folks finally start getting back to normal
We postponed our road trip to Lake Garda from this August to the same dates in 2021.
I managed to move everything we had booked without getting shafted which was good.
I feel there is slightly better than 50% chance it'll be viable & I am slightly happier about us driving than flying.
In theory, Ibiza for a week in august for a friends wedding, I don’t think we’d have booked it had it not already been cancelled from this year.
Bar that, I’m hoping for the odd few days around the UK like the rest of the country I suspect.
Depending on what happens with team, team training and nationals, I might be able to persuade my girlfriend to come with me around the Baltic to Estonia.
Rescheduled week in Holland, last week of school summer hols. I'm fairly hopeful it will go ahead, but won't be bothered if not.
We've booked a 3 day trackday in Portimao in May. With an extension on the trip to 7 days overall for some holiday time.
Best circuit i've ever ridden.
Gotta use or loose £600 worth of flights we booked to see Vic falls with my sister by end of 2021. More hopeful of seeing some of tdf with my brother though 🤔 otherwise it will be UK or maybe Ireland by motorbike instead.
Still hopeful for Raid Pyrenean late July 2021, but only money we might lose out on is flights, already booked and paid for with Ryanair (yeah, I know in theory we should get that money back but I'm prepared for the worst).
Tour company has a good cancellation policy if it's due to Covid (they've only taken a £99 deposit anyway) so it doesn't feel too risky. I'm prepared to be flexible also if e.g. hotel bookings fall through etc. I can just rock up with the tent and do the touring route instead, it looked like there were more climbs on the touring route rather than the 100 hour route anyway.
Happily have plenty of big ideas for Scotland so if we can't travel at all I'll just spend the money on updating my bikepacking gear and go do the Badger Divide or something.
We’ve booked sailing in the Greek islands again this summer. If it’s not allowed by then I won’t have a job anyway.
2 x crete holidays booked, well the flights anyway, june and october (one easyjet, one jet2). booked some of the accommodation but no payment up front as per usual. car hire also pay on the day so can easily be cancelled/rearranged.
Our cancelled Alps trip from this year has been moved to July, not sure I'm keen on flying but hopefully driving over will be an option by then. Though if we've been vaccinated by then I might get on a plane. I hope for White Rooms sake we, and most other people make it.
Also booked a 6 day Boarders/Lakes trip for the last week of may, camping and airbnb, which I'm reasonably confident will happen. If not we won't lose much.
Hopefully have numerous other trips around the UK and if things are more normal, I'd like to get away for my 40th at the end of September.
No intentions of going abroad for us as usual, so Wales, Lakes, Cornwall. Would be nice to get over to Northern Ireland to see family. But it takes as long as it takes for us all to be safe I guess.
We've got a track day to Portugal (cancelled from this year) booked for the end of Feb, not going to be surprised if it doesn't happen, and will also re-book Chatel (again cancelled from this year), probably in July, which I'm more optimistic about.
Well if I do try hard to be optimistic, I'm hoping for a couple of UK trips next year, maybe something in Europe in the Autumn. Had a big group MTB long weekend with friends from home planned for April this year which we moved to next April. Really hope that can happen. Of course, I would like to get home to Belfast as soon as I safely can.
We're going to go to Tarifa as soon as possible from May onwards and Monknash for camping when it's not raining. No work commitments helps.
I've booked a self catering week in Dumfries & Galloway for Easter and a couple of weeks camping in the Lakes for summer.
I've booked a lot earlier than I would normally but I figure there will be good demand for UK breaks next year, and both holidays have reasonable cancellation T&Cs.
I've not seen anything to suggest we will be out of the woods by Easter or Summer so I've booked the above more in hope than expectation. Boris has promised it'll be OK by Easter which pretty much guarantees it'll be ****ed with shite sprinkled on top.
Loving the negativity on international travel.
If we want companies to exist to take us anywhere in 2022 they'll need people to pay them some money in 2021 to keep the lights on and considering vaccines will start to be pumped out in volume early next year.
We're planning on an Italy trip, will be the first foreign trip with our little one.
I was meant to be going to Scotland at the end of next week, now looks like we won't be let in so canaries it is instead..
Will be booking mine today.
Get in while you can lads ... there'll be nothing left to book come Easter.
Ended up not being able to go on our trip with Basque MTB this year so hoping to be able to go next year from May onwards all being well with possible vaccines otherwise unfortunately I dont think I'll be able to risk it.
This may be of interest to some, we had an update from virgin travel insurance last week (we have an annual policy):
2020 has been a bit of a rollercoaster for anyone with travel plans so we wanted to give you some good news about improvements to your Virgin Money Travel Insurance.
Keep reading for all the details, plus an update on the latest guidance and a quick reminder about what to do if your trip is cancelled.
We’ve got you covered
We’ve made some improvements. Any trips booked under your current policy now include*:
· Medical expenses – you’ll be covered for medical expenses if you need treatment for coronavirus while abroad. We’ll also cover additional accommodation costs (up to £2,000) if this treatment means you need to extend your trip.
· Cancelling or cutting your trip short – you’ll be covered if you, or a member of your family or travelling party, are medically diagnosed with coronavirus or personally instructed to isolate by an NHS service or medical professional.
You'll soon be able to see this cover in your usual policy documents. In the meantime, it's good to know you're covered.
Important things to remember before you book
Remember, if you’re planning a trip abroad, don’t forget to check the latest guidance from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Your travel insurance won’t cover you if you travel against the FCDO’s advice. Check out our FAQs for more information.
Need to make a claim?
If you’ve had a trip cancelled, your travel insurance covers you for the costs that you can’t get refunded. Follow these simple steps before making a travel insurance claim:
1. Speak to your travel provider (airline, tour operator or travel agent)
They should be able to give you a refund. They’re really busy right now so this could take some time.
2. Speak to your credit card provider
They should be able to help if you can’t get a refund from your travel provider. They might be busy too, so hang in there.
3. Speak to us
Once you’ve heard back from your travel and credit card providers, get in touch and send us a claim for anything that hasn’t been refunded.
Kinda hoping we'll be able to re-book our honeymoon to do the Colorado Trial, but finding really hard to be optimistic about it. At the same time, struggling to motivate ourselves to think about doing something else as we had our hearts set on it really.
Quantas have said this morning no vaccine no flight. I’d expect most other carriers to follow, not sure how you prove that at checking tbh...

Interesting one there... I'm OK with paying for a vaccine if needed and not insane money, but if worst comes to the worst and can't get one, i'll drive to Portimao if i have to 🙂
