Reading another thread got me interested in this. Thing is, I'd like it to replace an old Onkyo hdmi amp, telly is hdmi and currently use a chrome cast for streaming. Would it be possible to connect the telly to it which is only hdmi? Also is streaming video e.g. Netlix taken care of via the app? Ta.
No HDMI on the Muso. Most people use the optical input for the TV, we use analogue as the optical output on our ancient TV only outputs from the Freeview tuner so doesn't work with Netflix etc.
What about a smart DVD with optical out, nettiflix from that. And play your CDs too.
New Unitinhas an optional HDMI input
Mu-so has optical and 3.5mm analogue inputs. So to use it as a soundbar you'd need those connections on your TV, or as others have said a secondary source like a roku box or smart blu-ray with that on. Buying a Mu-so Qb, the smaller version, would free up some cash for that approach.
Sure you don't have either optical or analogue out on the TV? would expect to see some form of o/p on most TV's, since the internal speakers are always sub-standard.
Disclaimer: I do work for Naim, but I try to avoid bias in these kind of questions 🙂
Ah ha. Telly has optical o/p so that's that bit sorted. Now how about the streaming bit? We tend to listen to radio quite a bit (streaming via chrome cast) but I see it has internet radio so that's sorted. If we wanted to watch Netflix for example would we still need another box? Or can it be done via the app? Thanks folks.
If it's taking the audio from your telly then whatever you've got coming out your TVs will come out of the muso. So if you can get Netflix or anything else on your tv now you can get the sound to come out through the muso.
If your going to use it as a sound bar (I do and it's very good) I would get the muso over the qb purely because the qb is a bit square to sit under a tv whereas the muso shape looks a better fit for that purpose.
