... the one from the nest on the Cathedral, that was shot. Well it's been through rehab, and put back in the wild.

The fact that they prey on other birds is quite enough.
See regular comments in newspaper letters pages about the need to cull raptors because they're too common and kill millions of our songbirds.
And racing pigeons.
So do cats, and Maltese hunters because tiny little birds are considered a delicacy.
Easier to slaughter a rare bird than millions of cats, I'm quite happy to see an open season on the hunters, though.

Sometimes you just despair at people...

Lovely to see it recovering and flying though!

I know your statement is tongue in cheek and what I am about to say probably does not apply to you or your views Count Zero.

But it does remind me of the anti hunt, anti animal expt, PETA crowd who will stop at nothing to prevent animal cruelty, even hurting or encouraging the killing of humans( I do not think from memory that any human has been killed in this vein).

I agree that we shouldn't be cruel to animals, the more we learn about them the more we discover how similar to us they are, and how we are nowhere near as superior to them as we once believed.

So either killing and suffering is wrong, or it isn't , if you feel animals are equal to humans, why is it OK to treat humans less equally? (Again not aimed at you CZ-more a question to the concept that stomping on cruel humans is a good solution to animal cruelty)

Really glad that it's responded well to it's rehab. Beautiful birds.

We've had a Red Kite exploring my particular patch of coastal west Dorset - very exciting - but I fear it may have taken up residence on a local estate that employs a slightly notorious gamekeeper. Haven't seen it for a few weeks. 🙁 I've tipped off the National Trust wardens that it's been in the area.
