Just heard a story on the radio about a man in the USA who was imprisoned over 30 years ago for a crime he didn't commit. DNA evidence has recently proved he couldn't have commited the crime and so he has been released.
Apparently he is deeply religious and it was all thanks to god who enabled his release.
Doesn't he, for just one second, stop and ask why god didn't intervene to stop him being improsoned in the first place.... 😕
God's onto a winner, he can obviously so no wrong (and I say he, as god is obviously a male Caucasian).

Or thank the actual people who did all the work to get him out.
It must infuriate doctors, nurses and medical staff in general when patients thank God for their recovery from serious illness.

It's almost like he is infallible.
Like in The Book of Job
So 30yrs gone? Is there any compensation for this?
The terrible thing is that if you asked him why Dog decided to lock him up as an innocent man for 30 years you could expect nothing more than a blank look in return.
A little story..
I have a friend who is infected with religion. He took a lead acid battery on holiday with him - about a 1/3 the size of a decent car battery, as hold luggage in nothing more than a rucksack. The rucksack fell off the baggage carriage underneath the wing of the plane whilst it was being refueled - 10 foot high flames ensued. There was a little chat with the police and the pilot, who pointed out that had it happened over the Atlantic the entire plane load of people would have been screwed. My friend explained to me that Jesus had saved him and his family and showed me the charred bible that was in the rucksack as proof. An answer as to why Jesus hadn't given him enough common sense to not almost set fire to an airliner there was not.
I always ask the question, do you think God is omnipotent, if the answer is yes, then we have no control whatsoever and are just robots.

Naa, she's black!
yeah saw that story
no wonder there are race issues in america
the police who forced a confession out of him and his brother (both had learing difficulties apparently) should now be sent down for 30 years too
Please take a deeper look... Both guys involved were mid teens, mentally handicapped and pressured into confession for 6hrs in a police jail cell.
30 years waiting for your number to come up to clock out on Uncle Sam's dime. If that was me you wouldn't be able to print what I said once I was released.
I just feel really sorry for those 2 guys. Such a shattered life after doing nothing wrong.
I knew someone who was very religious (catholic) who as a young man was a trawlerman.
In a very bad storm he was washed overboard and basically thought his number was up as despite being a strong swimmer could not fight the waves to get near the boat .
When he started to pray , he then was not only washed back toward the boat but a wave picked him up and threw him back onboard.
This was divine intervention as far as he was concerned and from then went from being a token catholic of Italian birth to a week in week out church go'er of unshakable faith.
He was a good man who's family sat next to my dad (Irish catholic ) in church and despite his beliefs was not a bible basher and who's religion was his business .
I personally think he was a lucky bastard.
But if peoples religious beliefs are a comfort to them, that's fine by me .
Doesn't he, for just one second, stop and ask why god didn't intervene to stop him being improsoned in the first place....
And do you think just for a minute - who am I that I need to question the honest convictions of another man - especially at a time he may be feeling just a little overwhelmed...?
I often wonder this. In chip's example, the man is grateful for God saving him, but not angry for God jeopardising him in the first place. But what about the hundreds of thousands (or more) of people drowned over the history or seafaring? Why didn't God save them?
And the cancer survivors who thank God for their deliverance. Why did God invent cancer in the first place, ffs? However, I don't bring this up with religious people, because it's their thing, it makes them happy and if they want to believe in it then that's fine. I have no desire to make them more miserable and take away something important to them, even if I could.
Could always Tweet God and ask him

God works in mysterious ways.
Could always Tweet God and ask him
Or ask George Bush? He has a hotline to God apparently...
I was brought up as a Quaker, a pacifist, and in the early 80's I recall my parents holding a meeting at our home, which my primary school Minister attended, to campaign and pray to stop the Falklands War.
Next day at school there's a school assembly and the same Minister holds a prayer, the crux of which was 'Lord give our Christian soldiers the strength to overcome the enemy'.
This sums it all up for me.
